Last week, a video of a young man brutally beating up his mother while throwing her to the ground made headlines. It became the talk of the town, with Twitter users condemning the act through and through. They also uploaded posts demanding justice for the victims including the man’s sister Zobia Meer. Identified as Arsalan Chaudhry, the accused reportedly got into a tussle with his mother and sister over a property and money dispute, while his wife stood at the back and watched the episode without interfering or coming to the mother-in-law’s rescue. Soon after, an FIR was lodged against Arsalan and his spouse.
In latest news, however, Arsalan has been forgiven by his mother and she has taken him back. He and his wife uploaded a public apology on social media, where they can be seen addressing the public while explaining their side of the story. According to Arsalan, business and financial stresses led him to resort to physical violence. While he did admit that there is no excuse for such inhumane behaviour, he did reveal his mother has pardoned him.
What followed was a clip from Arsalan’s mother, stating she has fixed relations with her son and daughter-in-law and requested the public to do the same. In an earlier video posted on YouTube, Zoobia mentioned that her brother Arsalan took all their valuables including jewellery and cash before leaving the house. She also accused the police of being complacent and non-cooperative during their time of need. Superintendent of Police (SP) Rawal disclosed that a medical checkup of the aged woman conducted last week, revealed she was tortured. He also swore to arrest Arsalan at the time. The Rawalpindi-based man and his expecting wife Bisma have allegedly returned to their home and the family has sorted out their differences.
