3 Sajjad Ali Songs Copied By Bollywood

Sajjad Ali is well known musician of Pakistani music industry. Starting at the very young age of 17, Sajjad Ali did not just helmed the hat of a semi-classical singer, but a poet, film director, actor as well as producer. From classical numbers to romantic, peppy tunes to qawwalis, the music virtuoso has done it all. His soulful music is much loved not just locally but across the border as well. This is primarily why his songs have often been repeatedly stolen on the pretext of either an inspiration or simply copied without any due credits.

Let’s talk about some of Sajjad Ali’s songs that were copied by the Indian entertainment industry.

  1. Besharam Rang From Movie Pathaan:

Recently a video emerged on Sajjad Ali’s social media handle where he says he was listening to songs from an upcoming movie and realized that the melody resembled a song “Ab Kai Hum Bichre” he had written years ago. Though he didn’t reveal the plagiarised song, but fans were quick to interpret that the melody of Besharam Rang was eerily like Sajjad Ali’s song.

In the name of inspiration, the Indian film fraternity keeps on plagiarising Pakistani songs without giving them due credits let alone get the copyrights. The recent case in point was Abrar ul Haq’s song Nach Punjaban that was copied in Karan Johar’s movie Jug Jug Jiyo. Upon severe backlash, the makers gave singer Abrar-ul-Haq due credits of the song.

  1. Thoda Sa Pyar Hua Hai in Movie “Meine Dil Tujhko Dia”:

Sajjad Ali released the song “Yaad To Ati Hogi” for the movie Chief Saab in 1995 which was greatly liked by the Pakistani audience. Later the same song was copied in Bollywood movie “Maine Dil Tujhko Dia” in 2002 as Thoda Sa Pyar Hua Hai starring Sohail Khan and Sameera Reddy in the lead roles. The music was given by Indian musician Daboo Malik.

  1. Mein Bhi Kareedar Hun By Sajjad Ali:

Mein Bhi Kareedar Hun song was originally sung by music maestro Sajjad Ali for the movie Aik Aur Love Story that starred Nimra in the lead role. Later the same song was plagirised by Sonu Nigham’s father Agam Kumar Nigham for his music album “Uski Yaadon Mein Bewafa Sanam”. The Song became popular for his soulful music and amazing lyrics.
