4 Unique Ideas For A Socially-Distant Reunion With Friends and Family This Winter

As we head towards cooler months, there is still a gloomy feeling and sense of uncertainty in the air. Everyone has been feeling extremely low about the fact that we cannot rejoice a fun winter this time around due to the deadly coronavirus pandemic. December is the month when schools shut for vacations, love birds living in two ends of the world reunite, relatives travel across the world for big family celebrations and friends spend nights together picking up from where they left off. Be it attending fancy Christmas lunches or lavish weddings, everyone tries to make the most of their time together. As sad as it may be, none of that can happen anymore until the entire world is vaccinated soon, which of course seems close to impossible! For those of you who are a tad bit lost about how to host guests at your home (preferably outdoors!), below are three different suggestions:

The ideal number for a comfortable and stress-free sit-down dinner should not be more than five couples, especially during Covid-19 times. Set up a long table in your driveway, on the balcony or the roof. Each chair should be placed at least four feet apart from the other. You can opt for a mini floral arrangement for the center and some fairy lights to light up the space. For food, we suggest everyone is served at the table so there is not too much movement happening. You can pick any cuisine your friends are fond of, ranging from desi to Japanese and Thai among others. Note: Make sure your guests bring masks along.

If you are meeting your partner after a long time, what is better than a one-on-one dinner with him/her? But with restaurants shutting much earlier during lockdown, the best venue has got to be your home. And chilly weather will make the dinner all the more worthwhile! Pen a sweet little message inviting them to your place and don’t give extra details. In the meanwhile, order food from their favourite go-to restaurant, set up a table and two chairs in an outdoor space and light a candle in the middle. Calm and soothing music in the background would be a plus!

Remember those cozy nights with our closest girlfriends back in the day, where we would all snuggle up in one blanket and share the best conversations? While the cuddles and warm hugs cannot happen anymore, you can still make a girls’ night special in more ways than one. A bonfire night would be a great idea. All you need is some seating around the fire pit, loud speakers, a variety of savoury and sweet snacks and some marshmallows that you can roast right away. Trust us, it will be the best weekend of 2020!

Parents wait for their children to visit from overseas during winter time. Siblings wait for each other to have those food fights and yelling competitions all over again. And when everyone comes together as one big fat family, life feels complete. If you are one of those fortunate ones who will be meeting at least a few of your nearest and dearest soon, remember to invite them over for a scrumptious barbecue. The yummy and barbecued prawns, chicken, fish and kebabs can be followed by some mouth-watering dessert too. Don’t worry about the calories; you can hit the gym the next morning! A chocolate cake or a rich Belgian tart could be a delicious end to a beautiful evening.
