Trends come and go with time and with seasons, and the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic gave rise to a number of new trends. With most of us working from home, we moved out from our corporate work wear and denims, into more relaxed loungewear, summer dresses and shorts and tees. We can’t even remember the last time we slipped into a pair of jeans and there has most certainly been an increased demand for loungewear and comfortable clothing.
We saw a rise in the trend for biker shorts, also commonly known as cycling shorts. These are comfy, easy to slip on and can also double up as workout wear. We’ve been spotting all our favourite influencers wearing them as well as some of our favourite celebrities. They are oh so versatile and can be styled in a variety of ways; and of course, we’re here to show you how. Here are fun ways to style your bike shorts.
With an oversized tee
Posibly the easiest and minimal effort required to style this look. All you need is a baggy tee! It can be any old tee you have lying around at the back of your wardrobe, a new graphic tee you’ve just gotten your hands on or even a plain blak or white tee. Team this look with a pair of whie kicks, retro sunnies and a fanny pack and you’re good to go. This look is ideal for a casual look and even if you’re actually going to go on a bike ride.
With an oversized denim jacket
Denim will take you through to absolutely every season. And even better? A denim jacket. A denim jacket is just as versatile as a pair of biker shorts and what do you get when you put them both together? The perfect street style look. Wear your biker shorts with a white cropped top or ribbed vest top and round off the look with your favourite oversized denim jacket. Accessorise with some delicate gold jewellery and a chunky watch!
With an oversized blazer
An oversized blazer is another wardrobe staple that every girl should have hanging in her closet. If you don’t already have one but are planning to purchase one, then opt for a colour that is neutral and will go with a variety of other looks. Oversized blazers also work amazingly well with a pair of skinny jeans, ripped jeans or even a pair of sweatpants. In the case of an oversized blazer, you can dress up the look for a lunch with the girls. Make it as feminine as possible with a pair of summer sandals, a chic pouch bag and a pair of pretty dangling earrings.
As a matching set
You’ll find that many biker shorts come with a matching crop top or a matching sports vest. This is the perfect look to not just add a pop of colour to your day, but also to head to the gym or meet your friends at the park. This look is effortless because you really don’t have to put too much thought into what you will team your biker shorts with. Opt for a bright bold hue and team your matching set with a baseball cap and sneakers and there you have it, the perfect athleisure look!
With a cute top
When in doubt, team absolutely anything with a cute top and you’ll be good to go. If you don’t want to create a very feminine look with a girly top then you can also opt for a ribbed halter neck top which can be accessorised and made more fun. Opt for a pastel coloured halter neck top and layer it up with gold jewellery. If the sweltering heat gets the best of you and you don’t want to layer up the jewellery, then instead opt for a pair of simple gold hoops. Slip on a pair of sliders or summer sandals and you’ll be set.
All black everything
Another easy to achieve yet stylish look is opting for all black. All black everything is yet to fail us and is the most perfect and effortless way to make a sartorial statement. Pair your black biker shorts with a black hoody or sweat shirt for those chilly summer evenings. In the case of it being too hot where you are, opt for a black tee instead. Or alternatively, you could save the look for fall which isn’t too far. Couple the look with contrasting white sneakers and dark sunnies and you’ll have your friends wanting to steal your look stat!
