The conclusion of “Pyar Ke Sadqay” is approaching with the finale airing on August 13. Yumna Zaidi, Bilal Abbas Khan, Yashma Gill, Srha Asghar, Atiqa Odho, Omair Rana and Gul E Rana have all been giving stellar performances in this show, though the past few episodes have left a lot for viewers to complain about. Fortunately episode 29 finally begins the process of clearing misunderstandings and revealing truths.
In episode 29, Abdullah (Bilal Abbas Khan) has a lot on his plate while trying to understand his own feelings towards Mehjabeen’s pregnancy and his upcoming wedding to Shanzay (Yashma Gill). Washma (Srha Asghar), who is the true hero of the show with her outspoken nature and no-nonsense demeanor, gives it straight to Abdullah and tells him Mehjabeen is too good for him and he deserves Shanzay. Abdullah, burdened by his own thoughts, confides in Mansoora (Atiqa Odho) and tells her that she’s going to be a grandmother. Mansoora has been grappling with her feelings towards Sarwar (Omair Rana) and his “true” face. She seizes this opportunity to gauge his reaction and tells him about Mehjabeen’s pregnancy. His reaction leaves Mansoora shaken when she sees him attacking Abdullah and calling him a “loser,” realizing now what her children have been facing at Sarwar’s hand for years. This is a brilliant moment, because it shows how the thread tying Mansoora to Sarwar simply snaps in that moment as she watches Sarwar pin her son to the wall. Mansoora has had enough and she makes this clear. Mansoora visits Mehjabeen (Yumna Zaidi) at her home and Seema (Salma Hassan) fills Mansoora in on the grim details of Sarwar’s interactions with Mehjabeen. She then heads to the office and has Abdullah put a detailed inquiry in effect on Munshi Ji’s case. Later, when Sarwar railroads Abdullah for this, Mansoora puts him in his place by making it clear that the company belongs to her children and not to him.
Mansoora is a woman with money and status and she is one who should be strong, confident, a woman with the upper hand in her marriage – but she isn’t that at all. She’s an older woman with children who marries a much younger man and then, due to her own deep insecurities and the scars from her first marriage, willingly remains blind to his deceptions and allows herself to remain blind in his love. Up until now, I truly believed that Mansoora was beyond any chance of redemption. In her unwillingness to face the truth, she became a willing participant in Sarwar’s manipulations and turned against Munshi Ji, ultimately playing a part in his death. Mansoora has done wrong by her children as well, putting Sarwar before Washma and Abdullah both, listening to Sarwar’s rants about Mehjabeen and allowing Abdullah’s marriage to fall apart.
Despite all this, Mansoora emerges on top once again and is the unsung hero of this episode. Atiqa Odho has played her brilliantly, giving a performance that contributes to making Mansoora worthy of forgiveness. Mansoora breaks our hearts as she wades her way through Sarwar’s lies, slowly peeling back and revealing layer after layer of his deception. And in doing so, she discovers Sarwar’s abuse towards her children, his evil intentions with Mehjabeen, his hand in Munshi Ji’s diminished reputation and death and, finally, his betrayal towards her. With her final words in the episode, Mansoora brings viewers to tears: “Allah hum sab ko maaf kar de.” Atiqa Odho has brought this character to life with all her complexities and internal trauma and while the journey has been tedious and infuriating for viewers, she has managed to cast Mansoora in a sympathetic light. Mansoora has finally snapped out of the trance she has been in and is making all the right decisions, both for her children and for herself, in choosing to divorce Sarwar and name Abdullah as the head of her companies.

This episode has paved the way and set the ball rolling for all other issues to wrap up as well. With the last episode airing next week, once can only hope that Mehjabeen and Abdullah receive the attention they deserve. Their love story has always been one to root for, but unfortunately, the way it has been handled has not done this couple justice. Mehjabeen is deserving of so much more and Abdullah’s entire family should grovel at her feet for forgiveness. One can only hope that the ending feels complete and does justice to the overall story – and the expectations of fans who have been watching for months.
