Saba Qamar is undeniably the reigning queen of Pakistan’s entertainment circuit. From her TV dramas to film projects, she has delivered several performances over the years that prove she is a flawless and impeccable actress. A star in her own right, she makes sure to break the internet every time a new project releases. Be it Sabbir Khan’s Baaghi or Saket Chaudhary’s Hindi Medium, her talent remains unmatched. The recipient of several accolades, including four Lux Style Awards, a Hum Award and a Filmfare Award nomination, she is truly deserving of all the attention she gets and success she receives. - Baaghi
She became an inspiration for the show’s fans following a spectacular performance. Many lauded her for taking on such a heart-wrenching role based on the life of late social media sensation Qandeel Baloch and doing complete justice to it. Saba’s performance earned her critical acclaim as well as her courage to bring sensitive subjects to the fore with immense grace and passion. While speaking about starring in Baaghi, Saba once said, “We are facing so many issues, there are so many things and we need to talk about them. That’s why I do serials like Cheekh and Baaghi.” - Cheekh
Saba played the role of Mannat, a young girl fighting for justice and against all odds for her murdered friend. Her power-packed performance centred on the themes of abuse, manipulation and patriarchy but she battled it all with her head up high! The show plays a vital role in inspiring women to raise their voices and fight against injustice. Talking about her convincing performance in Cheekh, Saba told BBC Asian Network earlier, “I put my heart and soul in it (Cheekh). It was very tough for me.” - Hindi Medium
Saba’s Bollywood debut was nothing short of an astounding success. It featured her opposite the late Indian actor Irrfan Khan and their on-screen pairing was just perfect. In Hindi Medium, Saba essayed Mita, a young mum based in Delhi who is adamant on getting her child admitted in a prestigous English medium school. Talking about working with Irrfan previously, Saba said, “Working with him was a fan moment for me.” - Sangat
Saba knocked it out of the park with an emotional yet striking performance. She starred as a rape victim who had to conceal the fact that her daughter’s father was not her husband (Mikaal Zulfikaar) but the man who had sexually assaulted her. The show faced flak for being controversial on multiple levels but both Saba and Mikaal were praised endlessly for their performances.
5.Digest Writer
This one hit close to home for all women. It showed Saba getting into the role of a girl, hailing from a small town, with high hopes and big dreams. The lesson we took away from the project was an important one: the fact that sons and daughters should be treated equally. Saba proves to her parents that the misconception in society about a son being more capable than a daughter is completely flawed as she remains persistent about becoming a digest writer one day. In a nutshell, her character was one that empowered women and inspired them to fight for their rights.
