Aakhir Kab Tak Episode 13: Adeel Hussain’s Nasir Adds a Comedic Touch

“Aakhir Kab Tak” is a show that is successfully playing a balancing act, which is difficult to manage for most shows – telling a realistic tale based on a necessary issue while also keeping the audience interested and invested in the romantic angle(s).  Starring Ushna Shah, Adeel Hussain, Srha Asghar, Haroon Shahid, Shahood Alvi, Javeria Abbasi, Gul E Rana and other talented actors, “Aakhir Kab Tak” has been written by Radain Shah and directed by Syed Ali Raza Usama.  Following the lives of two girls who have grown up in an oppressive, suffocating household, the show follows their personal growth, successes and failures.

In episode 13, the introduction of Adeel Hussain’s character, Nasir, has changed the overall mood of the show, giving it a light-hearted, humorous touch.  Nasir is a crooked cop and that’s what makes him more interesting, as he isn’t the straight-laced character one would have expected.  From having Noor’s tires flattened on purpose to give her a ride to driving in circles for an hour while dropping her off, Nadir is visibly willing to do anything to impress Noor, a woman he has clearly developed a crush on.  However, as he admits himself later, he is not used to spending time around women and so, he rubs Noor the wrong way with his brash, impolite way of speaking.  Adeel Hussain and Ushna Shah have managed to pull in viewers with their cute, quirky love story and chemistry.

On the other end, Fajar’s (Srha Asghar) life is falling apart as her mother in law (Sabahat Bukhari) not only begins to suspect Fajar isn’t pregnant, but has also turned against Fajar after seeing how turbulent Fajar & Saim’s relationship is.  She is not aware of the facts, but after spotting Saim (Haroon Shahid) leaving the house in anger, she has determined that Fajar is the wrong woman for Saim and blames herself for arranging the marriage.  Honestly, this is a difficult situation, because she isn’t wrong – Fajar’s family should have been transparent and told her about Fajar’s condition.  Of course, nothing in Fajar’s house is normal and Saim’s mother, while speaking to Safiya (Javeria Abbasi), states that Safiya and her family tried to load their burden onto them……and really, is she wrong?  The way Safiya rushed to get rid of Fajar and hide her condition was exactly that, dumping her problem onto someone else.  And yet, despite Saim’s anger, Saim is a wonderful partner for Fajar.  He has arrived as a savior, someone who actually cares about Fajar and her well-being, unlike her own family.  Safiya isn’t evil, but she sees herself in Fajar and because of that, she wants more for her – and is hurt when she sees Fajar in a tight spot.

“Aakhir Kab Tak” continues to be one of the best shows on television.  This isn’t a show trying to sweep issues under the rug.  In one of my earlier reviews, I discussed how marriage isn’t therapy – and the team of “Aakhir Kab Tak” is aware of this and they are showing exactly that.  Marriage isn’t therapy and that’s exactly why Fajar’s life is in turmoil at the moment, because she didn’t receive the proper care at the right time.  As an audience, it’s great to see that our thoughts are actually being addressed in the show itself.  Ushna Shah, Srha Asghar, Haroon Shahid, Adeel Hussain and Javeria Abbasi are all brilliant in this episode.  Next week, Saim will come to Fajar’s rescue – but will he be able to protect Fajar from a new problem…his family?
