Aaminah Haq’s Response To Amna Ilyas’ Body-Shaming Remarks Goes Viral

She may not be as active in Pakistani entertainment anymore but she was everyone’s favourite in her heydays. From her magazine photoshoots to showstopping ramp walks, she set the bar extremely high for the models that followed. None other than former supermodel Aaminah Haq, she is still fondly remembered by her fans’ world over. Not only was her catwalk game on-point but her acting stints in TV dramas like Mehendi, Chaandni Raatain and Ghulam Gardish were appreciated too. Having been missing-in-action for quite some time now, Haq recently took to social media and responded to the body-shaming she has faced from her juniors within the industry.

Last week, an old clip from Hassan Sheheryar Yasin’s talk show resurfaced on the internet, making the rounds on Instagram too. Featuring models Amna Ilyas and Sadaf Kanwal, the episode – which landed in hot waters following Kanwal’s comments about Mahira Khan and #MeToo – has received backlash yet again for a few remarks that were made by the ladies on the couch. While playing a game on the show, Ilyas was seen trying to make Kanwal guess a particular model’s name within the given time frame. The model in question was Haq indeed.

Ilyas started off by referring to Haq as a yesteryear model but hit a new low when she went on to talk about her weight, with Kanwal responding “purani model hai? moti hogayee hai?” HSY was evidently left appaled as the two models high-fived after Kanwal guessed the correct answer. Haq has now addressed the same in a recent social media post. “A few of you have tagged me in something a certain model/actor said about me,” she posted on her Instagram story. “Truth be told, if body shaming me brought some small shred of joy in her life, then you’re welcome. Unhappy people tend to gravitate towards hate, instead of kindness and compassion,” she concluded.
