Abu Dhabi: Soul Beach Opens on Saadiyat Island

After almost four months of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UAE has eased restrictions on many hospitality and leisure destinations across the country, with residents and visitors now enjoying discounted hotel stays and heading to reopened swimming pools and beaches to beat the summer heat.

A week after the reopening of swimming pools in Abu Dhabi hotels, a new beach destination, Soul Beach, has been launched to cater to visitors and residents of the popular Saadiyat Culture District.

The new beach is located on beachfront development Mamsha Al Saadiyat, adjacent to the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Manarat Al Saadiyat, comprising over 400 luxury homes and shops.

Soul Beach features a one-kilometre shoreline, a 400-metre swimming zone in the Arabian Gulf, 400 sunbeds and a new concept for refreshments. The beach is open to the public seven days a week, from 8 am to sunset, with paid entry priced at AED 50 per person on weekdays and AED 75 per person on weekends. This price includes a sunbed with a parasol.

While enjoying views of the idyllic stretch of white sand and clear blue sea, beach-goers can scan the QR code placed on their tables to check the menu via their smartphones and order their meal via WhatsApp. The food will then be quickly delivered to their sunbeds by a golf buggy.

The new destination, by real estate developer Aldar Properties, is adhering to all the health and safety regulations put in place by the government. The sunbeds are socially distanced while free sanitiser is available for all visitors. In addition, a strong sanitisation process is also being following throughout the day by a team of safety personnel while lifeguards have been permanently stationed across the beach to monitor the safety of swimmers.
