Ace Writer Farhat Ishtiaq Expresses Grief Over Father’s Death

Farhat Ishtiaq is undeniably one of the best writers in Pakistan, for the small and big screen. Popular for her romantic scripts including Humsafar, Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu, Diyar-e-Dil, Dil se Nikle Hain jo Lafz and Woh Jo Qarz Rakhty Thay Jaan Per, she has also won the Lux Style Award for Best Writer. While her work usually requires her to be behind-the-screen, some of the best characters she has written for TV dramas and films include Khirad (Mahira Khan) and Asher (Fawad Khan) from Humsafar, Imtiaz (Ahsan Khan) and Meera (Mawra Hocane) from Udaari and the screenplay for Parwaaz Hai Junoon. However, every time Farhat has appeared on a talk show or given an interview, she has always given credit to the one man in her life who has made her who she is today: her father.

Taking to Instagram, Farhat shared the news about her father’s death, referring to him as her hero. In a rather emotional post, she wrote, “My hero. Aabi, irtiza, haider, saad, asher kahan hote hain? Log puchte the…main ne dekha esa hero. Unn hi values, ethics aur principles kay sath zindagi guzarne wala jese mere heroes hote hain.”

She ended the caption with, “mera hero mujhe chor kay chala gaya.” It made us teary-eyed too! Farhat shared a selfie with her late father as the two striked a pose for the camera. In the close-up image, the father-daughter duo can be seen smiling from ear to ear. Many took to the comments section and conveyed their heartfelt condolences to Farhat and her remaining family members. Farhat’s fans sent their well-wishes, requesting her to stay strong during this testing time. May he rest in peace and may God give the veteran writer’s family immense strength, patience and courage to deal with an irreplaceable loss.
