India has been severely hit by the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. From hospitals running at their maximum capacity to oxygen supplies diminishing too fast, the situation is a rather alarming one, and has been for the past several weeks now. While the country battles its worst phase of the contagion, people world over can only put their hands together and pray for the weeping nation and its people. Several Pakistani stars have also expressed their sympathies for those suffering, with singer-actor Ali Zafar being the latest celebrity. The star, who has worked in Bollywood on multiple occasions, uploaded a video on his social media platforms.
He can be heard saying, “People of India, you are facing tough times and pain one cannot imagine. People are troubled in Pakistan too. Maybe these tough times will make us understand what humanity is, and the fact that there is nothing bigger than humanity. In these difficult times, the people of Pakistan and I stand with you and pray for your wellbeing.”
He continued, “We all are praying to God that our difficulties get resolved soon and there is happiness everywhere in India, Pakistan and everywhere else in the world. Let’s all stand together and pray for each other during these difficult times.”
Earlier, actor Osman Khalid Butt pleaded with Pakistanis to continue following all SOPs, irrespective of whether they have received the Covid-19 vaccination or not. “Gut-wrenching visuals from India; the Covid-19 crisis is deepening. Sending prayers that the nation comes out of this. Please, everyone, mask up. Don’t let the idea that we’re vaccinated (or going to be soon) allow you to let your guard down. Observe all SOPs. Save lives,” he tweeted. Singer Momina Mustehsan tweeted, “As cases in India soar to highest global daily and second highest in total, it is bound to put strain on resources. This is humanity v the virus. Our battle against Covid-19 is also intensifying but can we share to help our neighbors? India needs oxygen.” We can all beat Covid-19 together!
