Amanat Episode 3: Imran Abbas Is the Best Part Of This Otherwise Overdramatic Story

Watching a show like “Amanat” can be tedious and yet, somehow, the viewer just cannot give it up. Starring Imran Abbas, Urwa Hocane, Saboor Aly, Haroon Shahid, Saba Hameed, Tara Mehmood, Srha Asghar, Gohar Rasheed and many others, this is a drama with a great cast, which instantly gives the audience the idea that there must be something worthwhile here in order for so many big names to attach themselves to this project. It has been directed by Shahid Shafaat and written by Rukhsana Nigar. Unfortunately with only 3 episodes down, this show has already been giving off cliched, predictable vibes with several illogical characters and situations.

In episode 3, Zaraar (Imran Abbas) and Zunaira’s (Saboor Aly) wedding festivities are in full swing. However, the bride is the greatest “party pooper” in this entire scenario and is constantly fixated on Meher (Urwa Hocane) and her presence at their wedding events. This is the illogical part. Yes, Meher has arrived at their wedding without her husband and flew on a plane with Zaraar for two hours. These families appear to be high society, so why are they so upset over this? It’s not just Zunaira who is upset by Meher’s presence, a woman who isn’t even speaking and is sitting in a corner the entire time. Zunaira’s parents and Zaraar’s parents are equally upset. Zaraar breaks the news to Meher in this episode that her husband has died, so Asad Siddiqui’s role was incredibly short-lived and an actor of that stature deserved more. To top it off, Junaid (Haroon Shahid) has been revealed as the most unnecessary “evil” character in this scenario. Apparently Zaraar, who appears to be a very kind, loving family man, has “put Junaid down” all his life and so, in an effort to get back at him, Junaid takes pictures of Zaraar helping Meher to the hospital. It’s not clear why pictures of Zaraar assisting Meher along with the help of a maid would cause controversy, but it does, which basically means Zaraar lives in a family full of insanity and is marrying the queen – of insanity, that is.

Now it’s becoming difficult to find reasons to push forward with this show. There truly isn’t anything to be excited about here with all the “twists” visible from a mile away. What it boils down to is that this is a show full of beautiful people and eye candy is essentially the only reason one would be interested in continuing with this one. Everything appears over-the-top. Oddly, with a cast full of great actors, it’s only Imran Abbas who is making an impact this time around. Imran’s character is the only one who is mildly normal. Yes, he is being dishonest and yes, it’s all very unnecessary, but Zaraar is a character who at least has his heart in the right place (so far). He’s also an angel for putting up with a character like Zunaira. Still, we’re aware this story will take a “Thora Sa Haq” turn soon enough. The question is – will we still be watching when it happens?
