Amber Heard admits to punching ex-husband Johnny Depp

The feud between former couple, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard continues and appears to be getting more volatile. Just this week, London’s High Court heard Amber Heard admitting that she punched her ex-husband Johnny Depp because she was afraid that he would push her sister down the stairs. She further alleged that Depp had done this previously to his former girlfriend, Kate Moss.

Amber Heard has been giving evidence on behalf of Sun newspaper, the owner of which is being sued by Johnny Depp for libel over a 2018 article which termed him a “wife beater”. As per her statement, she was attacked by the 57-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean actor at least 14 times. According to the actress, he had also threatened to kill her, had slapped, punched and head-butted her as well as kicked her when he got angry. She further added that he had a violent and jealous alter ego which arose due to his excessive drinking habits and drug abuse.

Johnny Depp has repeatedly denied all her claims saying that it was he who is a victim of her assaults and that her claims are a mere hoax. Amber Heard was questioned about a particular incident in 2015 during which she had hit Depp during an argument at their Las Angele penthouse. According to the actress it was the first time she stood up to her husband because she had every reason to believe that he was about to push her sister down the stairs.

“And the moment that happened I remembered information I had heard (that) he pushed a former girlfriend – I believe it was Kate Moss – down the stairs,” Heard told the court. She said that it was her impulse to defend and protect her sister. This was also the first time Amber Heard had mentioned any incident in which her sister was involved.

“I have never changed my story,” said Heard, but agreed she had not said it before.

Regarding another alleged incident in Australia, the court heard that Depp could not have grabbed her hair with one hand and punched her with the other because one hand was in a cast. Depp’s lawyer questioned why this wasn’t mentioned in any previous statement.

“You are just making this up as you go along,” the lawyer said, to which Heard responded, “I didn’t include every detail or every thought.”

Further, Heard has said she was repeatedly assaulted by Depp during their stay in Australia.

She described how he had forced her, naked, against a kitchen counter covered in glass and pressed on her neck, choking her. A teary-eyed Heard told the court that she tried to push him off while gasping for air and managed to cut her feet and arms on the glass. Depp’s lawyer however asserted that these looked more like self-harm scars.

“Those scars on my arm were from that evening, I have never self-harmed,” Heard said in her defence. “Johnny – the monster – nearly killed me. I loved the Johnny who was clean and sober.” Amber Heard has also denied having an affair with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, or anyone else during her marriage to Depp. In further recordings, the court heard Johnny Depp accusing his ex-wife of punching him and throwing pots and pans at him. Heard said she had only ever acted in self-defence, saying if she contradicted him he would become violent.

Earlier last week, the court was told that Amber Heard had left faeces in Johnny Depp’s bed. But Amber Heard denied that neither she nor her friends were responsible for this prank. “Of course not, it’s absolutely disgusting,” she said, while suggesting that Depp’s dog might be to blame as it had a bowel problem after eating a bag of cannabis as a puppy.

The trial is set to conclude next week, although no ruling is expected immediately.
