Amir Khan declines offer to join politics in Pakistan, declares Imran Khan an ‘amazing PM’

A few days ago, boxing champion Amir Khan had admitted that he could follow in the footsteps of Manny Pacquiao and do for Pakistan what the Filipino is doing for the Philippines by joining politics. The Pakistani boxer who was born and raised in Bolton, England, is seeing his pro boxing career winding down and last fought in July 2019.

Between then and now, the boxer has increased the amount of work and activities he is doing in his country, both pertaining to boxing and otherwise. Spending a lot of time in Pakistan, it can bring one to speculate that his next career could be in Pakistan. The boxer, who is an avid user of social media took to his Twitter to announce that he has oftentimes been asked if he would join politics.

“I have been asked numerous times if I would join politics in Pakistan. Being a sports man and being an ambassador for the country, I’m honoured to be asked if I would take part in politics, in fact I would love to help the country,” he penned in his tweet.

He went on to add, “I would love to make pakistan a better place and be a massive help in many areas. Being sport, education, stopping child labouring and many more things. We will all leave this world one day, but whilst we still around we all should do our bit.” He revealed that “Ive sat with many politicians and army generals agreeing and disagreeing on topics in the country. My heart is clean and I would want the best for Pakistan. Lets see how things play out. My old stable mate world champion boxer manny pacquiao also joined politics.”

He highlighted the work that Manny Pacquiao was doing for his country and added that he would also love to do the same for Pakistan.

“in Philipines, I have been watching the great work Manny Pacquiao has done for his country and I know I could do the same for pakistan. It will be a massive decision to make.

I one day might consider this. I like to ask my followers what they think about this?”

This got fans excited about Amir Khan’s plans to potentially enter politics. But earlier today, the boxer took to Twitter once again to tweet his updated plans. After speaking to his advisory team, Amir Khan will not be going down the political route.

“Talked to my advisory team, I will decline the offer to join Pakistan politics. The country is run by an amazing PM @ImranKhanPTI and we all have trust in him. I prefer continuing my charity work @AKFoundation in UK, Pakistan and rest of the world to make areas better and safe, (sic)” he wrote.

Together with his wife, Faryal Makhdoom, they have set up a child protection fund by the name of The Zohra Shah Child Protection Fund after Zohra Shah was beaten to death by her employers for releasing a pair of expensive parrots from a cage in Pakistan.
