Anushka Sharma’s claps back at Sunil Gavaskar’s ‘distasteful’ comment and we’re here for it

Another day, another troll in the life of Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma. It’s around that time of year when trolls come out to attack Anushka Sharma and hold her responsible for Virat Kohli’s performance on the playing field. It comes as no surprise that each year, the wife of a cricketing husband gets targetted when he doesn’t put on the best performance. Unfortunately for Anukshka Sharma, yesterday’s RCB vs Kings XI Punjab match was one of those days.

RCB lost the match against KXIP and also had a number of misses. Virat Kohli happened to drop an easy catch which was not something that the cricket enthusiasts had anticipated. Within minutes, Twitter was flooded with netizens judging him for his poor performance, while many dragged Anushka’s name into it. There were a number of jokes circulating on social media about how Anushka Sharma would think twice about handing their baby over to Virat. Some even got nasty, saying that she has been a big distraction in his life.

Another reason for Anushka Sharma’s name being dragged into the controversy was because Sunil Gavaskar passed a casual remark during his commentary for the day. As soon as Virat Kohli dropped the catch, Sunil Gavasker said, “Inhone lockdown me to bas Anushka ki gendon ki practice ki hai’, perhaps hinting at the viral video where Anushka was seen bowling to Virat during a practice session at their Mumbai residence.

Many fans of the couple took to social media to react to his unnecessary remark and believed that it was wrong of him to target Anushka Sharma, the way in which he did. Fans took to Twitter to hit back at the trolls and we are here for it. Anushka Sharma too took to her social media to respond to the uncalled for comment which was really distasteful.

“That Mr Gavaskar your message is distasteful is a fact but I would love for you to explain why you thought of making such a sweeping statement on a wife accusing her for her husband’s game? I’m sure over the years you have respected the private lives of every cricketer while commenting on the game. Don’t you think you should have equal amounts of respect for me and us?” she questioned in her post.

She went on to say, “It’s 2020 and things still don’t change for me. When will I stopped getting dragged into cricket and stop being used to pass sweeping statements?” she questioned. Concluding her statement, Anushka Sharma said that “Respected Mr Gavaskar, you are a legend whose name stands tall in this gentlemen’s game. Just wanted to tell you what I felt when I heard you say this.” More power to you girl!

Many took the humorous approach and joked about Virat Kohli missing the catch.
