Zoya Akhtar is one such director whose films are always on the top of our list. Her capabilities as a director has exceeded our expectations and film after film we have seen her versatile directing skills and talent on display. With highly successful films, including the likes of Gully Boy, Luck by Chance and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, she has proved her mettle as a director on a number of occasions.
Her success has also been proved via Box Office numbers, for example, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer, Gully Boy once 13 awards at the Filmfare Awards and made history. And now, after the director has been quiet for some time, it has surfaced that Zoya Akhtar and Ranveer Singh may come together to join hands once again. If rumours are to be believed, Katrina Kaif too may be a part of their next collaboration.
A source close to the film told a leading Indian daily that, “Zoya has got the rights of Martin Scorsese’s gritty thriller The Departed. The film she is planning will be along the same lines and will explore the gritty world of the underbelly that runs in the country. Although it will be a completely new space for the film-maker, she is confident about it after pulling off Gully Boy.”

Further, the source went on to add that Zoya Akhtar has offered Ranveer Singh the part which has been essayed by Leonardo DiCaprio in the original and he has already nodded yes to her and the role. Katrina Kaif will also be seen alongside Ranveer Singh in a fantastic action-packed role.
While Zoya Akhtar has procured all the rights to adapt the film, rumour has it that she will only take the basic idea from The Departed and adapt it in a way that will best suit the Indian audience. We think this could really be something special and fans are already excited.
