Beauty and brains Armeena Rana Khan is loved by her fans, not just in Pakistan but across the world too. With noteworthy films such as Janaan, Yalghaar and Sherdil to her credit, the starlet has made a mark in the world of entertainment. But she has no qualms in referring to herself as an international star and for all the right reasons! Armeena recently took to her Instagram stories and shared her career trajectory with her followers. Not many know that she first kicked off her acting journey in India. A recent hate comment by an Instagram user about the same, led Armeena to explain how it all began for her.
She wrote, “I began my film acting career in India. Please scroll to the next story. Here’s proof. I was on billboards all over Mumbai, on the cover of Times of India several times with my co-star as we both made our debut. I was scouted by Pakistan immediately after that so I came to work amongst my own people.” Armeena then provided evidence by uploading the official poster of her 2013 Bollywood film titled It’s Too Much, helmed by Pushkar Jog. “My first ever feature film. They auditioned 500 girls and I made it. It was small budget but I’m proud of it. It gave me the stepping stones that I needed,” she penned, while shedding light on the project.
Continuing on to her next story, the actor posted a throwback of her first-ever British feature film. It won her an award for Best Narrative at the LA Film Festival. “It was small but I landed it and I am proud of it!”. The flick was titled The Real Target. She then revealed that her second British short film The Achilles Protocol is being entered into all major film festivals around the world including Cannes as soon as the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. “I am proud of this one,” she wrote. Her 2014 British venture Stranger Within Me also went to Cannes back in 2014. However, her first acting stint in the United Kingdom was 2013’s Writhe, in which she essayed a serial killer. Posting about the same, Armeena noted, “This was 2013, at the same time that I was signed up for three consecutive projects in Pakistan including Bine Roye. This one also went to Cannes.” Sharing a picture from an award ceremony red carpet event – where she was all glammed up in a crimson mini dress – Armeena revealed that Writhe was nominated in 2014 for an award for the Best Short Film category.
Divulging details about what has been keeping her busy of late, she wrote, “This August I launched my own and went to Turkey to shoot. I cast local Turkish actors and this film will be out real soon. It is a British production. I will announce this properly. We are already on film number 2.” The post was accompanied with a picture of the cast and crew.
A proud yet modest Armeena disclosed that she has graced international book covers in the past too as well as starred in Sprite Asia campaigns which aired in three different countries. She has also repped British-Pakistanis on various international platforms while also being the mascot for Pakistan alone at various film premieres all over the world. She also disvussed the Kashmir issue with the heads at the UN in Strausbourg sometime ago. “I took up the Pakistani cause at UNICEF when no one stood up for it,” wrote Armeena.

Not one to publicise her charity work, Armeena revealed that she has been volunteering and working with various charities world over. She exclaimed that while she has been talking on social issues since she was a teenager, her job gave her a bigger platform. She ended her posts with, “I have not even started on my Pakistani career yet. Now, this is who I am. You don’t have to like and you do not have to follow me. My work is for my followers and my social work for me. No one is forcing you so kindly stop your abuse and trying to belittle me. It is said that only people who do less than you belittle your achievements. Now, what does this say about you? This is that last time I will speak about this. I will “clean” up my space if I have to. Thank you to all those who support me. I do this all for us. My journey has just started!”
