Aulaad – 2nd Last Episode: Bilal Attempts To Make His Ammends

“Aulaad” is finally reaching its conclusion point with the last episode airing next week. Several steps are taken in the 2nd last episode to wind up all loose ends, though forgiveness is simply not that easy – and this much is shown in this episode as well. Starring Mohammad Ahmed, Marina Khan, Furqan Qureshi, Hassan Niazi, Sunita Marshal, Hina Javed, Nabeel Zuberi, Minsa Malik, Qudsia Qureshi and others, the show has been written by Syed Ameer Ali Shah and directed by Aabis Raza. As we last saw, all three sons have now realized their mistakes and are moving towards repentance, hoping to be forgiven by those they have wronged – their parents.

In this episode, we see that Bilal (Nabeel Zuberi) has decided to work towards Khurram’s (Hassan Niazi) early release, both Adnan (Furqan Qureshi) and Bilal seeing this as their duty and a way towards repentance. Adnan apologizes to Khurram for not giving him the funds for his case, genuinely upset and unable to look him in the eye. Khurram himself has had quite the transformation in jail and is broken not only by his crimes, but also by Afreen (Sunita Marshal) and her need to work now that he’s in jail. Some of the thoughts in “Aulaad” are horribly regressive and it’s almost indigestible to hear a man acting as though a woman stepping out of the home to provide for her family is an insult to him. Mohammad Ahmed’s Jalal was earlier seen saying the same as Roshna (Minsa Malik) chose to use her degree to provide for her parents. These thoughts must be avoided and do not need to be presented on screen at a time when women are working to break these backwards concepts. Anyway, the brothers have all realized their mistakes, but Bilal is suffering at a different level.

Bilal not only feels responsible for Moni’s (Qudsia Ali) death (which he is), but he also now realizes that Muskaan has been the real thief all along, Moni’s accusations being absolutely right. He tries to make things right by giving Roshna the jewelry back, but she refuses, saying she has no desire to own the jewelry that is responsible for her parents being rendered homeless, disgraced and heartbroken, the jewelry that is responsible for her sister’s death – and she’s right. Bilal is broken after this, unable to believe he trusted Muskaan over his entire family, and he leaves his home, leaves Muskaan and promises never to return. After speaking to Bilal though, Roshna realizes that he is truly sorry and tries to convince Jalal to forgive him – but Jalal is simply not able to do it at this point.

Dunk Episode 22: Repetition Has Pushed “Dunk” Interest Levels Down

Nabeel Zuberi is, once again, the star of this episode with his performance as Bilal. Bilal is truly broken in this episode, unable to understand what has happened and how low he has sunk. Nabeel does a great job portraying this. Hassan Niazi and Furqan Qureshi also do a great job. Overall, “Aulaad” is coming to its logical conclusion, though it has been dragged out for far too long with too much sadness. Hopefully viewers are able to see even a little bit of happiness in the upcoming finale.
