To call “Aulaad” a tear-jerker would be an understatement. “Aulaad” is a show that weighs heavy on the heart with how it has been written, in a way to make viewers angry at the lead duo’s terrible children, which requires severe amounts of misery. There’s absolutely no doubt that such children do exist and this does occur in many households, but the severity of mistreatment has begun to make “Aulaad” a difficult watch – while it’s impossible for viewers to turn away. Written by Syed Ameer Ali Shah and directed by Aabis Raza, “Aulaad” stars Mohammad Ahmed, Marina Khan, Hassan Niazi, Sunita Marshal, Nabeel Zuberi, Furqan Qureshi and Humaira Bano.
In episode 11, Jalal (Mohammad Ahmed) waits patiently at Khurram’s (Hassan Niazi) office, but Khurram makes him wait a full two hours before meeting him, only to give him a small amount for Roshna’s wedding. Jalal and Zakiya (Marina Khan) feel helpless, taking small amounts of money from each of their sons in order to arrange a decent amount for Roshna’s engagement. In a highly emotionally charged scene, Moni (Qudsia Ali) offers her savings to her father to cover costs and Jalal is overcome with emotion, telling Moni how pure of heart and wise she is. Whatever is happening with Jalal and Zakiya, their daughters are their backbone, their “good” kids (along with Adnan). Still, the engagement goes off without a hitch. Unfortunately, when Roshna’s in-laws arrive to set the wedding date, Muskaan creates a scene with her rude, impolite words, discussing Jalal and Zakiya’s lack of finances. Fortunately, Roshna’s in-laws seem to be kind-hearted people and they overlook Muskaan’s words, putting Jalal and Zakiya’s worries to rest, making it clear that they don’t want anything but Roshna herself.
Amidst all this, Adnan (Furqan Qureshi) gets a job offer from Dubai. Obviously hearing this, Jalal and Zakiya are broken hearted over their only obedient, kind-hearted son wanting to leave them for foreign shores. Can anyone blame Adnan though? Adnan has always wished well for his parents and cares deeply for them. However, he has had to suffer a lot at the hands of their foolish decisions. The same can’t be said about his wife though. While Farwa (Hina Javed) initially seemed fairly rational, she begins showing a nasty side in this episode. Not only does she openly encourage Adnan to stop providing for his parents, but she also eyes Roshna’s wedding set with a negative attitude, one that not only leaves the audience uncomfortable, but also Zakiya.
Unfortunately, this set is going to come into play in the next episode when Muskaan steals it. This is disgusting and it’s unfathomable how this girl could be as conniving as she is. What right would she have on this set, a set from Zakiya’s own family members, one she wishes to pass on to her own daughter? There are few characters one would wish the worst on, but Muskaan and her mother are characters that deserve nothing but suffering. The only positive in this episode is that Bilal (Nabeel Zuberi) is beginning to see how vile his wife is – but what’s the point? It’s too little, too late. He has already brought that disaster in the house.
Qayamat Episode 16: Ifrah and Jawad’s Marriage Is In Jeopardy
Overall, Mohammad Ahmed, Marina Khan, Furqan Qureshi and Qudsia Ali are the scene-stealers of this show. But Qudsia Ali, who plays Moni, and Mina Malik, who plays Saadia, stand out this time around, along with Mohammad Ahmed, who reduces viewers to tears with Jalal’s helplessness (as usual). “Aulaad” is not an easy show to watch and it’s becoming more and more miserable – and yet, this is a show that one watches like an investment. We’ve put in so many hours, watching misery after misery – now we are waiting for the return in the form of payback and punishment.
