The team behind “Aulaad” ensures that the waterworks continue to flow, emotional drama being its USP. Telling the tale of a set of parents, their five children, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren, the show focuses on the expectations parents have from their children as they grow older and, more specifically, how those expectations are brought crashing down. Realistically, children grow up, get married and turn their focus to their own children. But should parents be neglected in the process, children forgetting all the sacrifices that were made by their parents for their bright future? It’s this question that has made “Aulaad” a success with parents wondering if they have raised their children right and children left wondering if they have failed (or could fail) their parents. Written by Syed Ameer Ali Shah and directed by Aabis Raza, “Aulaad” stars Mohammad Ahmed, Marina Khan, Hassan Niazi, Sunita Marshal, Nabeel Zuberi, Furqan Qureshi, Humaira Bano, Minsa Malik, Qudsia Ali, Hina Javed and others.
In episode 19, Moni (Qudsia Ali) has been sent to an asylum by Bilal (Nabeel Zuberi) and his wife Muskaan after Moni was provoked (by Muskaan herself) into attacking Muskaan. Zakiya (Marina Khan) falls ill with grief and winds up in the hospital with Roshna (Mina Malik) caring for her as they wait for Jalal’s (Mohammad Ahmed) return. Adnan (Furqan Qureshi) proves himself to be a reliable son once again, redeeming himself somewhat when he returns to help get Moni released from the asylum, but Jalal is unwilling to forgive him. In this time of grief, Adnan and Khurram (Hassan Niazi) are both doing their duty as sons and brothers, trying to atone for past behaviors. Meanwhile, it appears as though Bilal has begun to see through his wife and mother-in-law, wondering if did the right thing. Bilal is the weakest character, one who doesn’t have any sense of right and wrong and allows others to make his decisions for him – namely his wife and mother-in-law. But their “reign” appears to be at its end.
Meanwhile, Jalal, Zakiya and Roshna take shelter with Jalal’s best friend who proves to be a great support for the family. But Jalal is in for a shock when the duo arrive at the asylum to take Moni home and realize she has fallen into a coma after the nurses injected her with the wrong drug. This scene is infuriating and it’s upsetting to see a scene like this where the nurses are shown injecting Moni to stop her from making “too much noise” – as if this wouldn’t be a regular occurrence in such an environment and the nurses wouldn’t be trained to deal with such patients? Moni has been an audience favorite along with the favorite of her own family, so it’s heartbreaking to see her in such a condition. Moni pulling through doesn’t appear to be an option. How will this tragedy affect this family and their relationships?
Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahi Episode 13: Jamshed and Sumbal Escape Their Shackles
Mohammad Ahmed is a fabulous actor and his performance as Jalal has been on par with what is expected of him. While Jalal is not always the greatest father (let’s admit it, he treats his sons like dirt often), the emotions portrayed by Mohammad Ahmed makes the audience truly feel for him and his situation. Marina Khan does a great jo as well, along with Minsa Malik in this episode. With tragedy befalling this family in the next episode, it will be interesting to see in which direction this story is headed.
