Azmaish Episode 32: Yashma Gill’s Shiza Warms Up To Rafay

“Azmaish” has been an azmaish of sorts for its viewers. This show has truly been testing our patience since it began – however, since the show turned into a daily rather than a weekly show, the show has become far more entertaining with its quick gratification. Starring Fahad Sheikh, Kinza Hashmi, Yashma Gill, Minsa Malik, Shahood Alvi, Laila Wasti, Furqan Qureshi and Gul E Rana, Azmaish has been written by Sameena Aijaz and directed by Fajr Raza.

At this point, we are up to episode 32 in “Azmaish.” Things are improving between Tauqeer (Shahood Alvi) and Nimra (Kinza Hashmi), Tauqeer finally accepting Nimra as his daughter and realizing how he has wronged her over the years. However, Nimra continues to speak to her biological father, the man whose reappearance is essentially responsible for her mother’s death. Is there really any sympathy left for Nimra in this moment? Her mother hadn’t been entirely honest with her, sure, but she had told her time and time again that her father was a bad man – and seeing how kind-hearted her mother was, why would she ever doubt her? Of course, some lessons need to be learned, but watching Nimra behave this way is frustrating, because she is bringing trouble on herself, not only with her father, but now also with his irritating nephew.

Meanwhile, after Shiza’s (Yashma Gill) accident, she finds herself being drawn to Rafay (Fahad Sheikh), appreciating his care and attention. Shiza is incapable of showing weakness, so of course, she reacts in a cold way regardless – but Rafay realizes the change in attitude. Logically speaking, this is not a couple worth rooting for. Rafay does not deserve a woman like Shiza – he deserves better. Shiza is responsible for breaking up her own marriage, mistreating her stepmother, abusing Nimra and now destroying her own sister’s marriage. Why should she get a happy ending? We do not want to see it.

On the other end, Samreen (Minsa Malik) also deserves her own miserable ending simply for being dim. Samreen has grown up with Shiza and is well aware of her bad attitude – so why would she take any sort of relationship advice from Shiza? This is illogical and Samreen is destroying her own home. Still, Samreen is not blameless as we’ve seen her nasty attitude with Nimra as well. But Samreen is different in that she shared a warm relationship not only with Rohan (Furqan Qureshi), but also with her Phupo (Gul E Rana)…..a really kind, loving woman who is being hurt by Samreen’s horrible change in attitude.

This is a Fahad Sheikh show all around. He steals the limelight as Rafay. Yashma Gill also does a great job as Shiza, as unlikable as Shiza is. The problem with “Azmaish” is that only Rafay is likable – and Nimra to some extent, along with Rohan and Gul E Rana. Otherwise, the show is full of terrors. Why would anyone want the kind-hearted characters to wind up with these horrible people? And because of this, what is the expected ending of this show? How will it end – and will that ending be satisfying?
