Azmaish Episode 37: Rafay Expresses His Interest in Nimra

“Azmaish” truly felt like pulling teeth initially in its run due to its heavy storyline with frustrating characters; however, once the show changed over into a daily, its level of appeal went up, luring in viewers. Starring Kinza Hashmi, Fahad Sheikh, Yashma Gill, Minsa Malik, Furqan Qureshi, Gul E Rana, Shahood Alvi and Laila Wasti in prominent roles, the story has been written by Sameena Aijaz and directed by Fajr Raza. The show focuses on the issues created in children through divorce and remarriage and how those issues can progress into something much more extreme if not dealt with in childhood.

In episode 37, Nimra (Kinza Malik) is now in the hospital after being struck by a car. Rafay (Fahad Sheikh) has obediently sat by her side through it all, something that has not gone unnoticed by Rohan (Furqan Qureshi). Rafay has found a true friend in Rohan and feels he can confide in him – and so he does. He explains how and when he fell for Nimra, but sacrificed that love for her when Tauqeer (Shahood Alvi) asked him to marry Shiza (Yashma Gill). However, now that he is divorced, Rafay genuinely wants to marry Nimra. Is this asking for too much though? This would be a warped situation under any circumstance – one man marrying one sister after divorcing the other. However, Rohan does not oppose this suggestion and even Phupo (Gul E Rana) appears to be supportive. How will Shiza and Samreen (Minsa Malik) react to this?

There’s a great moment where Nimra finally opens her mouth when her greedy father arrives at the hospital with Shiza and Nimra asks him to leave her alone, asking Phupo to “save her” from this man. Up until now, Nimra has allowed this manipulative man to control her life, but it seems her brain has finally returned to her body post-accident and she’s ready to fight for her life again.

Honestly, the highlight of the show is Yashma Gill’s performance as Shiza. She is a detestable character, but the performance is solid. Of course, Fahad Sheikh, Furqan Qureshi, Gul E Rana and Shahood Alvi are also stealing the show with the strongest roles. One simply wishes more time and emphasis had been placed on the love story between Nimra and Rafay as the show is moving towards its end while Nimra is still in “Rafay Bhai” mode. Still, “Azmaish” has certainly been an entertaining watch and it will be interesting to see how the show will wrap up – because it will not be easy to tackle this storyline and wrap it up neatly.
