The internet was filled with mixed questions when news about Bakhtawar Bhutto’s upcoming engagement to UAE-based businessman Mahmood Choudhry first made headlines. From some speculating what her to-be fiancé is like to others inquiring where he hails from, all sorts of queries surfaced on the micro-blogging platform Twitter. Soon, a spokesperson for the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) cleared all the air surrounding Bakhtawar’s better half and the big day, while also confirming that the engagement is all set to take place on November 27, 2020. Now, that everyone has enough information on 32-year-old Mahmood, the next question is what Bakhtawar will be wearing on the special occasion.
The daughter of late Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto will reportedly be revamping one of her mother’s traditional pieces. The same was revealed by design house Resham Revaj, who posted about recreating Benazir’s Nikkah outfit for Bakhtawar. The designer crafted a hand-worked, embellished ensemble for the slain Pakistani politician, who wore it back in 1987 during her wedding to Asif Ali Zardari. “Congratulations to Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari on her engagement, feeling honoured that she wants to recreate Muhtarma Benazir Bhutto’s nikkah jorah designed by #ReshamRevaj. Sharing the picture of the original outfit,” Resham Revaj posted on Instagram, uploading an image of Benzair clad in the pink and green outfit on her wedding day.

Previously, Bakhtawar also took to the micro-blogging site to inform people that Mahmood has no link with the United States, as reported by several publications earlier. “Thank you everyone for the good wishes. Unfortunately, the cards were leaked before even scheduled to be officially sent! Have absolutely NO affiliation with any family in the US which is being popularly quoted by most media. Hope this clears up all misinformation,” she posted. According to reports, the organisers have asked guests to get tested for Covid-19 and email the scanned copies of the results. “All attendees are requested to please email a scanned copy of their negative COVID-19 PCR test result 24 hours prior to attendance. This is a mandatory requirement for security clearance.” Moreover, they will not be allowed to carry mobile phones inside the premises, due to security reasons. “Please note – no photography or mobile phones will be permitted inside the venue and photographs will be available for all guests through our official photographer,” the statement added. “We thank you in advance for adhering to our safety protocols to keep you and your loved ones safe, and enable us all to enjoy the occasion,” read an announcement.
