Bandhay Ek Dour Se Episode 32: Maheen and Umar’s Truth Is Revealed To Her Family

“Bandhay Ek Dour Se” has been written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Ali Faizan. Starring Ahsan Khan, Ushna Shah and Hina Altaf, along with an entourage of great supporting actors, the show is a love triangle between two friends and one man. As we’ve seen, Maheen and Umar are married while Umar and Roshni have been continuing their love affair on the side. Episode 32 focuses on the fallout as the family discovers Umar’s (Ahsan Khan) intention to bring in a second wife. Maheen (Ushna Shah) has been Umar’s accomplice in his plans, blindly adding oil to his fire to marry Roshni. And while Maheen’s intentions are not bad, it’s difficult to put up with watching such a bright, once-confident character turn into this weak, “resigned to her fate” sort of character. Maheen realizes she’s stuck, because she’s married into family and doesn’t want to hurt anyone. Unfortunately, this backfires when Zakiya (Saba Hameed) finds out and gives Maheen a much-needed public thrashing. While Maheen may be innocent, Maheen was on the receiving end of a beating viewers wanted to give her themselves – this is not the way for a woman to become the desirable wife or the way to stand up for ones self. Why would Maheen put up with this nonsense instead of telling Umar straight away that he chose to marry her and now he will fulfill his duties as a husband in every way? Umar is legitimately cheating on Maheen and she’s now giving him license to do it.

It has become exhausting to watch Roshni (Hina Altaf) at this point, particularly because she is what one would call “dheet.” She does not understand where she went wrong and continues to blame everyone in her life but herself – and it’s clear that she doesn’t even genuinely care about Umar and is just using him in her stubbornness to take him away from Maheen. It’s for this reason that the audience cheers today when Zubaida (Saima Qureshi) spots Roshni with Umar after following her and drags her home by force. Once home, she gives Roshni the slap that Roshni so desperately deserved. And while one feels joy at seeing Roshni finally being put in her place by her authority figure, one can’t help feeling sad for Zubaida. This is a woman who has raised her daughter alone and has put all her faith and trust in her daughter – only for it to have been completely shattered. Zubaida is a good woman and she has shown this in every moment and interaction that her heart is in a good place. So, like any logical parent, she is horrified by her daughter’s behavior and the way she has raked her own character through the mud. Saima Qureshi performs very well in this episode.

The stars of this episode are Saba Hameed, Saba Faisal, Samina Ahmed and Saima Qureshi as the mother-figures. These women are stunned to see what their children have been up to while Nazia (Madiha Rizvi) is furious on Maheen’s behalf, chiding her husband and refusing to speak to the rest of the household over this issue. It’s true that no one can support you like family and Maheen has the full support of her family and Umar’s family – which is why it’s even more frustrating to watch her put her hands up and allow Umar and Roshni to walk all over her. Honestly, Umar does not deserve Maheen anymore and one can’t help wishing he is left entirely alone. At the pace the story is moving, the show is beyond the “dragged out” point.
