Best Fashion Bloggers/Celebrity Stylists In Pakistan

Being a blogger or celebrity stylist is no easy feat. The same holds true for them having an open profile on social media. They are constantly in the public eye, sometimes even receiving flak for a look that they may have put their heart and soul into but it did not sit well with the self-proclaimed fashion police following their Instagram accounts. It takes courage to turn a blind eye and remain unfettered by the bouts of criticism that are thrown your way and keep going. While all these things are undoubtedly a part and parcel of the profession, below is a list of female bloggers/celebrity stylists who have held their own, love what they do and are one of the leading faces in the field today.

1.Alishay Adnan

A strong proponent of ‘less is more’, this fashion forward stylist is here to stay. Chic, simple and minimal, her taste in fashion is both unique and flattering. If there is one thing we love about her, it is the fact that she creates looks that are not defined by a brand or the price. She looks towards affordability, fun and wearability while doing what she does best. A graduate of the University of Nottingham, Alishay refers to her style as “minimalistic and feminine” and while she loves to keep up-to-date with the latest fads, she is never too experimental. “At the end of the day, it is about what makes you feel confident and comfortable,” she says.

Holding a strong penchant for styling, Alishay stepped into the fashion scene five years ago. She has styled a bevy of renowned entertainment personalities since. These include Sanam Saeed, Iqra Aziz, Ayesha Omar, Mahira Khan, Saba Qamar and Ayeza Khan among many others. Take a look at her styling prowess from the many celebrities she has dressed in her career:

2. Ania Fawad

“I’m forever experimenting with my personal style so it is always changing. On some days I dress more feminine, while on others it can be quirky or streetstyle. It really depends on my mood and on the trends that I’m into at the time,” says Ania, who discovered her interest for styling while working for Marc Jacobs back in the day. She credits her learning to her boss at the luxury brand who had previously worked as a stylist for Donna Karen. While she never attended a fashion school, per say, Ania rapidly made a mark as one of the first few bloggers in the country.

Six years ago, when the art of fashion blogging was gaining momentum in Pakistan, she took it up as a full-fledged career, starting off with trying on different looks on herself to uploading images on Instagram to eventually gaining exposure through her profile. Before she knew it, Ania started receiving offers to style bigwigs from Pakistani entertainment for big budget films, award ceremonies and fashion shows.

These include the likes of Mahira Khan for Verna, Maya Ali for the film promotions of Teefa in Trouble and Parey Hut Love, Mansha Pasha for Laal Kabootar and her engagement day, Sana Javed for her debut film Mehrunisa V Lub U, Urwa Hocane for the promotions of Punjab Nahi Jaungi and Rangreza, Mawra’s Hocane for Lux and Fair and Lovely and Sadaf Kanwal for Balu Mahi and Lux. 3. Mehek Saeed

She loves pushing the envelope when it comes to all things fashion. Experimental and creative, Mehek has churned out a whole lot of fun and eclectic looks since foraying into the field – and not just for the numerous celebrities she has dressed but for herself too! She isn’t afraid of being a dare devil and it shows through her work, be it the neon green power suit she rocked on one of her wedding events last year or the white-embellished blazer and sari she donned at Hussain Rehar’s solo show in October. Weighing in on the same, Mehek says, “My personal style depends on my mood; sometimes I’m minimal and at other times I’m edgy, so it really depends on how I’m feeling on the day.”

Being a style editor at a well-reputed Pakistani magazine, Mehek is also one of the most sought-after celebrity stylists. From curating Aamina Sheikh and Ainy Jaffri’s looks for the Hum Style Awards to styling Syra Yousuf for a campaign to lending her fashion know-how to Zeb Bangash and Ali Noor’s music videos, she has achieved a great amount in a short span of time. “So, when it comes to celebrity styling, its often inspired by their own personalities. Its always about pushing them to try something new and as for campaigns and fashion editorials, it really depends on what the brief is or what I want the end product to look like,” she weighs in. Mehek also served as the stylist for Abdullah Qureshi and Maria Unera’s videos from early on in their careers. Her celeb-styling list also includes Ayesha Omar, Sanam Saeed and Mansha Pasha.

Mehek’s Instagram boasts of a myriad of her self-styled looks as well as those she has created for several campaigns. Here are our best picks from her social media account:

4.Maryam Raja

From being glued to Fashion TV at the mere age of 12 to reading up on local and international designers to watching fashion documentaries, Maryam rightfully calls herself a student of fashion. “Fashion has always been one of my top interests as long as I can remember, besides the fact that I wanted to be an astronaut when I was a child,” she quips. “I would go online and read anything and everything there was to learn about the behind-the-scenes of fashion. It’s something I have always been inclined towards naturally.”

Grateful for where she is today, Maryam loves the career path she chose for herself. Her life’s motto centers on Marc Anthony’s world famous saying, “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” As far as her style philosophy goes, she says its forever evolving. “I don’t think I can put it in one word. For me, my style is constantly evolving and I feel like I can’t put myself in a certain box, especially because I work as a stylist. I’m constantly learning, growing and experimenting with my personal style as well as what I create for others,” she notes. One of the leading fashion bloggers in Pakistan today and a popular face in the fashion realm, here is some of her best work till date:
