Bhansali questioned in Sushant case

The Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case took a major turn when one of the biggest filmmakers in Bollywood – Sanjay Leela Bhansali was called in for questioning by the Mumbai police on Monday. Bhansali arrived earlier in the day and spent a sizable time with the police officials giving them all the information he had about Sushant. It was being rumoured that Sushant would be cast by Bhansali in films like Ram Leela and Bajirao Mastani which ultimately was not done by the late actor.

The several murmurs of nepotism in Bollywood has now grown bigger and the cacophony of the voices against favouritism in casting actors in Bollywood has also reached the investigations team who have been questioning several people in the case.

Right from actress Rhea Chakraborty who was recently dating Sushant, to director Mukesh Chhabra the man who got Sushant into Bollywood and directed his last film Dil Bechara which streams on an OTT platform later this month to his co star from the same film Sanjana Sanghi, have all recorded their statements with the Mumbai police earlier.

One of the major people questioned was also the casting director at Yash Raj Films Shanoo Sharma apart from some of Sushant’s family members and close friends.

A senior police official said that the Bandra police has recorded statements of around 30 people so far in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. “We’ve got his detailed post-mortem report and doctors have clearly mentioned asphyxia due to hanging as cause of his death,” said the Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishek Trimukhe.

It is now being said that the case is far from closed and others including filmmaker Shekhar Kapur who was directed a now shelved film called Paani and who Sushant had confided in would be called in for questioning apart from actress Kangana Ranaut who had made several allegations against the top brass in the movie industry about their favouritism which could have resulted in the 34-year-old MS Dhoni actor’s untimely death.
