“Bikhray Moti” stars Neelam Muneer, Wahaj Ali, Yasir Nawaz, Samina Ahmed and many others, including talented child performers, and airs on ARY every Tuesday. The storyline has been heavy (and promises to get even worse before it can get better) and can be difficult to watch. That being said, the storyline is one that you cannot look away from once you start watching. The premise of the plot is child mistreatment, whether it be the marriage of a minor, minors working as domestic help or children holding labor jobs.
In episode 10, Jaanu is now alone at the shop with his Taaya out of town and the crooked customer once again begins pestering him to watch “adult” films with him. This situation is deeply uncomfortable, not only a viewer, but as a human being. Children are our future and it’s difficult to see how easily a child can be corrupted by falling into the wrong hands. Jaanu is holding his own and keeping a firm head on his shoulders so far, but for how long will he be able to ward off the advances of evil?
Gulzar (Wasim Abbas) is potentially one of the worst fathers ever seen on-screen, only because it’s painful to realize fathers like this exist. He does not care about his own daughter, so why would he care about his grandchildren? Not only did he force Faiza (Nausheen Shah) into pitiful circumstances, he’s now forcing his younger daughter into the exact same hell by pushing her into marriage with Zulfi (Yasir Nawaz). Wasim Abbas is playing this role convincingly as it’s difficult to feel anything for Gulzar but hatred. Helpless thinking about her niece and nephews, Ayeza marries Zulfi in a spontaneous nikkah, but makes it clear to Zulfi that she will not fulfill any duties as his wife. The highlight of the episode is when Ayeza’s mother finally stands up to Gulzar, stating that she no longer has her children to look out for and therefore, she no longer fears him. Gulzar seems shocked at her demeanor, but is it possible for the power play here to shift? Time will tell.

It’s a moment of misery all around when Ahad’s father is also hospitalized and he receives the phone call while sitting at the train station to run away with Ayeza (who obviously does not show up). Unfortunately, when he arrives, his father has already passed away. Wahaj Ali is a great actor and he gives a solid performance in this episode. But what role with Ahad have to play on the show from this point forward? Neelam Muneer is the star of the show and commands attention each time she appears on screen. Overall, “Bikhray Moti” is a good show, but the past few episodes have been a slow climb. Neelam Muneer and Wahaj Ali have been performing well, but the real storyline seems to be starting from the next week onwards with Jaanu running away and finding himself in a different situation.
