“Bikhray Moti” is a show that has been heavy on emotion, focusing on children who lose their mother and how their lives are affected afterwards. Starring Neelam Muneer, Wahaj Ali, Yasir Nawaz, Samina Ahmed and others in leading roles, the story is one that is difficult to watch, but one also can’t stop watching it.
Episode 11 takes a slight turn for the hopeful. While the theme of “Bikhray Moti” has been very grim with little respite in sight, the one thing that stands out the most is the character of Ayeza. Ayeza has now been forced into marrying Zulfi against her will. While many could argue that she made a choice, there really wasn’t any choice for her but to agree. Ayeza cared deeply for her sister and, therefore, cares for Faiza’s children as her own. Ayeza’s decision to sacrifice her love then did not come as a surprise, because for her it was simply the only choice she could make. But what’s refreshing here is how, in this episode, Ayeza has decided to make her place in her new household. She does not sit timidly in the corner and hover over the children, rather she has taken charge. We see Ayeza fighting off her manipulative mother-in-law (Samina Ahmed) and putting her in her place, whether it be with her gossiping ways or putting a stop to her mistreating the children. Ayeza quiets Zulfi’s suspicions by making it clear that she was in a relationship with Ahad and will not apologize for it, as Zulfi forced her into this marriage and she had a life before him. A highly abusive household for Faiza, both mentally and physically, it’s great to see that Ayeza is putting these characters in their place and showing them the mirror, particularly when Ayeza tells her mother-in-law to work in Shehzaadi’s place, because Shehzaadi will not go back. There are many other talented actors on the show, but it is Neelam that carries each episode on her shoulders as Ayeza is the central role. Neelam Muneer has a strong, confident demeanor on her own, but she has infused a different energy into Ayeza and is simply fantastic in this role.

Ahad (Wahaj Ali) is now mourning the loss of his father and is burdened with the guilt that he left his father alone at a time when he needed him the most. To make matters worse, with his father’s objections out of the way, Ahad heads over to speak to Ayeza and is shocked when he discovers she married Zulfi. In this vulnerable moment, Ahad takes Ayeza to have betrayed him and is unable to understand why she wouldn’t have approached him for help rather than marry out of obligation. He declares that his father was right about Ayeza. This isn’t the greatest angle, because if anyone knows Ayeza, it’s Ahad and he should understand why she made that choice. That being said, he’s grieving so we will give his character that leeway and hope he does ultimately come to Ayeza’s aid. Wahaj Ali acts well, as always.
Of course, one can’t forget little Jaanu who has been left home alone at his Taaya’s. Last we saw, he was being pursued by his Taaya’s friend and one night, on his way home, the same friend offers to give him a ride home. While initially declining his offer, he sits on the bike, but is quick to notice he’s not taking him home. Once parked outside an ice cream shop, Jaanu runs away and is found by a kind transgender and is taken in. While he is advised to call his father and go back home, Jaanu is unwilling to do so, giving off the impression that Jaanu will join this new character to earn a living. Fortunately, this transgender character seems very kind, but this will be a difficult track to watch regardless.

Overall, episode 11 is an interesting one and was fairly eventful. The entire cast is doing a great job and while the show certainly does lure in viewers with the heavy “misery” quotient, it’s nice to see a strong female character fighting not only for her own rights, but for the rights of those around her.
