Bikhray Moti Episode 21: Jaanu And Shehzaadi Suffer From Emotional Trauma

“Bikhre Moti” stars Neelam Muneer, Yasir Nawaz, Wahaj Ali, Samina Ahmed and others in important roles. Written by Edison Idrees and directed by Shahid Shafaat, “Bikhre Moti” is the story of two innocent children and depicts how their lives fall apart when deprived of their mother’s love and neglected by their father. This is a show that weighs heavy on the heart, but gives off a powerful message.

Episode 21 focuses on the children and the issues both Jaanu and Shehzaadi are facing due to their individual trauma. Children are innocent and once their innocence has been taken from them, it’s difficult to turn back. Both Jaanu and Shehzaadi are scared and untrusting and that is highlighted in this episode. As Ayeza (Neelam Muneer) tries to get the children to resume their place in normal life, she hits a roadblock as Jaanu refuses to go to school, complaining of a stomachache. Ayeza recognizes that Jaanu is avoiding a problem, so she questions him about it, but he refuses to answer. On the other end, Shehzaadi does not wish to leave the house after Sultan (Saleem Mairaj) last appeared at the door. She’s afraid that her “husband” will take her back with him, not believing her father or Ayeza are strong enough to protect her. Both children do a fabulous job of acting, particularly in a scene where Ayeza invites a Maulana Sahab to teach them and both children envision their predators in his place. Things become worse for Shehzaadi as Sultan tries to kidnap her in the middle of the street, but she is protected by Ayeza and Jaanu. Jaanu continues to suffer as his attacker works on his school grounds and Jaanu is forced to see him each day. The real stars of “Bikhre Moti” are the child actors and it’s wonderful to see how they’ve been allowed to take center-stage, though their scenes are very difficult to watch.

What is admirable about “Bikhre Moti” is that the story doesn’t offer any quick fixes. Sure, Zulfi (Yasir Nawaz) has recognized his faults, has become aware of how badly he treated Faiza and his children and he knows he wants to make it up to them and Ayeza. But can this happen overnight? No, realistically this would take time, especially considering Zulfi is a drug addict as well, not simply a bad father. In this episode, Zulfi is let go for falling ill on the job due to his withdrawal symptoms. While loitering with his friends, he spots Ayeza wth Ahad (Wahaj Ali). While Ahad is determined to get Ayeza back, he has never done anything unethical. However, Zulfi is not a man who can change overnight and his personality remains what it once was – suspicious, untrusting, jaded. And so when he confronts Ayeza over meeting Ahad, Ayeza puts him in his place. She makes it clear that while he may be her husband, they are together for the sake of the children and she is unable to rely on Zulfi for anything. She also shows Zulfi the papers Ahad brought to her, the papers being Shehzaadi’s divorce papers. Zulfi is a very thick-headed character, but he recognizes his mistake and the two visit Sultan to serve him with the papers. While Sultan refuses to sign, his wife assures them that she will make sure Sultan leaves Shehzaadi alone. Meanwhile, Ayeza and Zulfi speak to the police. The chemistry between Yasir Nawaz and Neelam Muneer is strong, as it was in “Dil Mom Ka Diya,” and the two play off each other well. Still, viewers find themselves rooting wholeheartedly for a reunion to occur, somehow, between Ayeza and Ahad. These are two characters that support each other in every way and deserve happiness.

A more humorous track (at present) is the one focusing on Tufail, his mother (Samina Ahmed) and Suggo (Faiza Gillani). While Faiza (Nausheen Shah) was a sweet, naïve woman who was unable to defend herself from her mother-in-law’s terrible nature, it’s apparent that Suggo is certainly not Faiza. Suggo is the daughter-in-law this woman deserves, a daughter-in-law that can put this manipulative woman in her place. The two ladies consistently lie to Tufail to make the other look bad, Suggo refusing to bend to her mother-in-law’s evil ways. And while we find ourselves cheering for Suggo, one can’t forget that Suggo is equally evil and is partially responsible for what happened to Jaanu. Still, it’s entertaining to see Samina Ahmed’s character on the receiving end of Suggo’s antics. Both Samina Ahmed and Faiza Gillani stand out in this episode, providing some much needed humor.

Overall, “Bikhre Moti” continues to tell a strong story. It does not shy away from shining light on some ugly truths in our society. Yes, there are some angles that are less than perfect – for example, Jaanu’s attacker working at his school. It’s difficult to realistically believe this coincidence. And then to make it more unbelievable, Jaanu is visibly distressed around him, so why can’t the teachers or even Ayeza recognize this? This would be one major complaint about the show. This issue aside, this is a show that is heavy, but worthwhile.
