This summer saw the release of Asim Abbasi’s web series, Churails on Zee5 which was a big hit with the audiences. It may have divided opinions on whether Pakistan was ready for such content, but still managed to rake in high numbers and viewership. And now, that very show has been banned from showing in the country. Following all this, Bilal Abbas Khan fans are now awaiting the release of the second Pakistani web series, Ek Jhooti Love Story, to air on Zee5 on October 30.
Penned by Umera Ahmed, the Mehreen Jabbar directorial includes a stellar cast including Bilal Abbas Khan and Madiha Imam. Last month, the cast and director took to social media to announce the release date for the series.
And now, the make lead, Bilal Abbas Khan has taken to his social media to share the trailer of the web series, leaving fans in a frenzy this afternoon. He captioned the trailer with “EK JHOOTI LOVE STORY, A tale of ordinary people and their sachi ‘jhoothi’ love story. #EkJhoothiLoveStory Trailer out now! Premieres on 30th October on Zee5!”
In the trailer, a series of clips are shown from the series. According to the director, the series is a social comedy which deals with all the societal pressures and expectations as well as love in the age of the internet and social media. The series is said to be a light and easy watch. The trailer opens with talk of a rishta aunty which is a common source families use to find prospective partners for their children.
The trailer goes on to highlight the different and unrealistic expectations desi families often have for their children’s spouses, without even taking into consideration the needs and wants of their children. A mother can be heard asking for a match for her daughter; someone who has studied from abroad and is highly educated. The trailer goes on to show Madiha Imam having made a false profile on social media and ends up connecting with Bilal Abbas.
The two are then seen engaging in conversation over the internet which results in them developing feelings for each other. Ek Jhooti Love Story has been in the works for quite some time now and was filmed in Karachi. The series is all set to feature other stellar actors including Mohammad Ahmed and Beo Zafar who mesmerized us with their chemistry in Cake. Other cast members include Furqan Qureshi, Kiran Haq and Kinza Razzak among others. Check out the trailer here:
