Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Tests Positive For Covid-19

A slew of Pakistani politicians have contracted the deadly coronavirus since its first outbreak in March this year. These include Shehbaz Sharif, Marium Aurangzeb, Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, Yousuf Raza Gilani, Imran Ismail, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Sharjeel Memon and Murad Ali Shah among others. The latest to have fallen prey to Covid-19 is Pakistan Peoples Party Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He made the announcement on his Twitter handle today morning. “I have tested positive for Covid-19 and I am self-isolating with mild symptoms. I’ll continue working from home and will be addressing PPP foundation day via video link. Wear a mask everyone, see you on the other side IA,” he wrote.

Many users took to the comments section and wished Bilawal a speedy recovery. “Get well soon Mr. Chairman PPP & continue your struggle for democracy,” wrote a user. Journalist Asma Shirazi penned, “May you get well soon. Prayers for you.” Another user added, “Get well soon! This is EXACTLY why we were all telling you to stop running jalsas but Maryam, despite being an elderly figure didn’t listen to any of us! So, you’ll miss Bakhtawar’s Engagement Ceremony now! Earlier this month, it was announced that Bilawal’s sister Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari will be getting engaged on November 27, 2020. The organisers have asked guests to get tested for Covid-19 and email the scanned copies of the results. “All attendees are requested to please email a scanned copy of their negative COVID-19 PCR test result 24 hours prior to attendance. This is a mandatory requirement for security clearance,” read a statement. Moreover, they will not be allowed to carry mobile phones inside the premises, due to security reasons. “Please note – no photography or mobile phones will be permitted inside the venue and photographs will be available for all guests through our official photographer,” it added.
