Bollywood superstars SRK, Deepika Padukone to come together for Tamil film

Nothing excites us more than a strong Bollywood duo coming together for a film and with 2020 having been such a drag, we could all do with some quality films and television to look forward to. And now, we’ve heard, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is all set to come together with Deepika Padukone for a Tamil film, which will make this the fourth time the couple will reunite.

The upcoming Tamil film will mark the Bollywood debut of Tamil filmmaker Atlee. The Bollywood superstars are all set to come together and collaborate on a project titled Sanki, a report in a leading entertainment portal states, adding that the film is slated to be an all-out commercial entertainer.

Critics have pointed to the fact that Deepika Padukone’s two-year break after Padmaavat and her marriage marriage to Ranveer Singh in 2018 “cost her the position she enjoyed in the industry.” However, the superstar seems to be doing just fine. The Piku actor first made her appearance in Bollywood alongside Shah Rukh Khan in the 2007 blockbuster, Om Shanti Om. The duo then came together and collaborated on blockbuster projects such as Chennai Express in 2013 and Happy New Year in 2014.

A while earlier, reports surfaced that SRK and Atlee would be coming together in a mega project, although no official announcement was made. SRK was last seen in the self-produced 2018 release, Zero, co-starring Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma; which didnt fare too well at the box office.

On the other hand, Deepika Padukone was last seen in Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak which was released earlier this year. She also has Shakun Batra’s untitled next coming up, co-starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday. Further, she will also be seen alongside her husband Ranveer Singh for the first time since they tied the knot, in Kabir Khan’s cricket drama 83.

Atlee is among the most successful new-age Tamil filmmakers. The 33-year-old has directed Tamil superstar Vijay in consecutive blockbusters, Theri (2016), Mersal (2017), and Bigil (2019).
