#ChallengeAccepted: Post Monochrome Images to Uplift Each Other, Spread the Love

From Bollywood to Hollywood and Lollywood, female celebrities world over have been posting monochrome images alongside the hash tag #challengeaccepted. While such Instagram trends have sprung up in the past too, each of them promotes a different cause. This time around, starlets are uploading black-and-white pictures in order to advocate female empowerment, and uplift women from all walks of life. Women are nominating each other to spread the love, stay away from criticism and accept themselves for who they are – strong, beautiful and incredible. Here’s a shoutout to all women: the ones that are single or married, the ones that are struggling to raise their children or don’t have offspring, the ones that are housewives or working nine-to-five jobs and above all, all the women who make this world a better place every day!

The campaign, touted to be about ‘women supporting women’ has been making headlines on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. While some ladies have put up photos in casual and laid-back looks, others seem to have dug out old ones! Actor Alia Bhatt won hearts when she uploaded a monochrome childhood snap in which she can be seen making a cute little heart with her baby hands. Too cute to handle! She captioned it, “Spread some love,” alongside a heart emoji. On the contrary, Ananya Panday opted for a ‘Too hot to handle’ approach. She put up a drool-worthy picture of herself clad in a button-down shirt and earrings. Winged eyeliner and a subtle pout added to the wow factor!

Katrina Kaif looked like a dream in the throwback picture she found. A casual tee, beach hair vibes and a million-dollar smile completed her look. Kat penned, “So grateful for the inspiration and support from all the women around me.” She then nominated Anushka Sharma and Kareena Kapoor Khan for the challenge as well. Following suit were B-town A-listers Bhumi Pednekar, Bipasha Basu, Sara Ali Khan and Taapsee Pannu. Bhumi wrote, “Love, support, be kind and fly high!” Sending out a powerful message, the Pink actor typed, “Kill them with success and bury them with a smile,” quoting world-fastest runner Usain Bolt.

From Hollywood, supermodel Cindy Crawford took the lead! “Love this simple way to lift each other up. #challengeaccepted. Thank you for nominating me @vanessabryant,” she posted, with a monochrome picture of herself, which seemed to be from a Calvin Klein advertisement that showed her taking a relaxing stroll along the sea. Pakistani singer Meesha Shafi also supported the campaign by publishing a candid monochrome shot of herself. She captioned it, “Challenge accepted.”
