#ChupKarKangana trends on Twitter and here’s why

Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut is known as the Queen of controversy for a reason. She is always making headlines and not always for the right reasons. Having recently joined Twitter, the Queen actor is not new to irking netizens and creating a buzz on social media. She had also once said that she only raises her voice to point out “what is wrong and to take attention towards what is right”.

The actor has done a number of versatile roles and has set the bar rather high for female-centric films. She is known for essaying the role of Rani Lakshmibai in the period drama Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi and also co-directed the film. And now, a year later, the actor has irked the Maharashtra government by comparing Mumbai to Occupied Kashmir.

As a result, her office space was demolished at the hands of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). As the feud goes on, the actor was also recently summoned by the Mumbai Police for allegedly posting a ‘malicious tweet’ against the judiciary, a day after being booked for sedition.

The actor took to Twitter and wrote “Candle March gang, award vapsi gang dekho this is what happens to anti-fascist establishment revolutionaries, not like you all tumko koi poochta bhi nahin, look at me there is a meaning to my life fighting real fascist government in Maharashtra not a fraud like you all.”

In a further tweet she penned, “I worship people like Savarkar, Neta Bose and Rani of Jhansi. Today the government is trying to put me in jail that makes me feel confident of my choices, waiting to be in jail soon n go through same miseries my idols were subjected to, it will give a meaning to my life, Jai Hind.”

She didn’t just end there and in a subsequent tweet wrote, “Just like Rani Lakshmibai’s fort was demolished, my house was also demolished. Just like Veer Savarkar was sent to jail for protesting, they are trying to put me in jail. Go and ask the intolerance gang how many difficulties did they face in this intolerant country? @aamin_khan.”

Within an hour of Kangana Ranaut penning these tweets, “Chup Kar Kangana” began trending on the microblogging website and left people in fits. Many people told her to stop comparing herself to Jhansi ki Rani. “#Stop comparing yourself to Great Jhansi ki Rani..” one user wrote.

Many also urged Kangana to stop her drama and they had had enough.

Netizens were also irked by the tweets and the media attention she has been getting of late while asserting that the government was trying to escape from the real issues in India. “Gov are just doing sushant case publicity to escape from real issues and problems or elections and media is doing for http://TRP.Open your eyes andhbhakts they are just using us and making us http://fool.Be cool not fool.#ChupKarKangana”

“She called Urmila as soft pornstar, Compared Mumbai wit POK, Mum police inefficient, Never helped any outsiders; But she calls herself Rani laxmi Bai,” wrote one user.

Another user went on to call her a self-proclaimed queen and penned, “Kangana is so much obbessed with other successful actors that she have to always drag them in her personal prblms she has jst done 1 flop movie named Manikarnika by doing tht film she is considering herself as JHANSI KI RANI! KANGANA the Self proclaimed queen,” (sic).

Some suggest that the internet needs to stop paying heed to the Manakarnika actor. “Can we just ignore @KanganaTeam and stop giving our opinions by commenting her? Lockdown is going on, clearly she has nothing to do, she’s just playing her dirty tricks to gain attention, she has nothing to do with any of our problems like economy & development #ChupKarKangana.”
