“Chupke Chupke” is off to a great start with 3 episodes under its belt, all raking in over 2 million views per episode. This Ramadan comedy is winning hearts all over social media, leaving its viewers in splits. This sort of show couldn’t have come at a better time. Written by Saima Akram Chaudhry (of “Suno Chanda” fame) and directed by Danish Nawaz, who has a flair for comedy, the show stars Osman Khalid Butt, Ayeza Khan, Arsalan Naseer, Mira Sethi, Ali Safina, Asma Abbas, Uzma Beg, Sheheryar Zaidi, Tara Mehmood, Farhan Ali Agha and many others. While the show took off on a great start with its first episode, it has only gone from strength to strength since – the strength being comedy.
In episode 3, we see the arrival of a new character, Rumi (Hira Soomro), the third of Fadi’s (Osman Khalid Butt) sisters. With the trio of Rumi, Gul (Mira Sethi) and Misha (Aymen Saleem) now together, Fadi has a lot more drama to deal with – especially after Mirchi (Areesha) drops the bomb about Fadi having a girlfriend. With the women in an uproar, Fadi visits Meenu (Ayeza Khan) and blasts her for spreading a rumor about a non-existent girlfriend, it being discovered that his “mystery girl” was Rumi.
The relationship between Meenu and Fadi is absolutely adorable. While their scenes are rip-roaringly hilarious and are laugh-out-loud moments, what’s visible in this hostile, antagonistic relationship is that Meenu and Fadi genuinely care about each other. While Meenu cannot stand the thought of Fadi being angry with her, Fadi shows his concern in different ways, like through her education and taking her to university. Osman Khalid Butt is known for his comedy, so it’s great to see him in a comedy as a more reserved character, while Ayeza Khan, who is known for her more serious, teary-eyed roles, is seen in a happy, outgoing, clumsy role. They’re both performing brilliantly and one can’t wait to see their relationship grow.
On the other hand, Hadi’s (Arsalan Naseer) engagement is arranged with a girl in Canada, which leaves Naik Parvar’s side of the family overjoyed – but Bakhtoo’s (Uzma Beg) family left fuming, particularly because it was arranged by one of their own. The entire cast here is brilliant, leaving viewers in splits over their antics and unnecessary rifts, but Asma Abbas and Arsalan Naseer deserve special mention for their witty one-liners and style of dialogue delivery. Also, one has to give credit to Tara Mehmood for playing Kaneez in a realistically humorous way.

Overall, “Chupke Chupke” is a winner. Saima Akram Chaudhry’s writing has only gotten stronger in the last couple of years and Danish Nawaz’s direction is offering great support. This has quickly become a show that one looks forward to watching each day and when it ends, it leaves its viewers wanting more.
