Content brand Zindagi’s return on ZEE5 has garnered mixed reactions. Here’s what Twitterati has to say!

ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Ltd recently announced the comeback of its highly-popular content brand Zindagi, but this time with a bang! While there is no denying that shows featured on Zindagi have garnered praise across the world, mixed opinions have surfaced on Twitter. Some social media users have lauded Zindagi for screening unique and realistic stories, also appreciating the fact that the ‘Desi Netflix’ will now also create new and original shows for audiences. According to a press release, Zindagi will offer a plethora of shows on its digital entertainment platform ZEE5, ranging from family dramas to romance and many other realistic stories, in line with global tastes and preferences. Here is what the internet has to say about this latest development!

“Some good news from neighbourhood! #ZEE5 is all set to revive its acclaimed Pakistan TV content, earlier associated with their brand #ZeeZindagi,” tweeted one user. Film and TV drama critic, Sadaf Haider penned, “#Zee5 #Zeezindagi is restarting #DesiNetflix ? I can see great news! #Dayaredil is going to be playing. @aClockworkObi@mayaali07 @haseebhasan. Good to see #Pakistanicontent at an international level free from Nationalist agendas.” Haider added, #Zeezindagi relaunch #Sabaqamar#Meharbano#Bilalabbas#Pakistan#Indian#Pakistanidramas#Mehreenjabbar Ghar se bahir Mil kay Jeengey ? ghar kay andar dushmani palay gey?”

Another commented, “I have started to see hateful comments already.” One user on the micro-blogging site shared, “I am modern but I am not too modern to forgive India. Who will take care of Kashmir if we as nation collaborate with India? #zeezindagi#bringdramasbacktopak.” While everyone has the right to their own opinions, it is important to mention that art has never and should never have boundaries. From banning each other’s films on the big screen to barring actors from working in each other’s film industries, both rivalling nations – Pakistan and India – have often dragged art into their political tensions and the outcome has never been beneficial for either of the two.

Momin Ali Munshi stated, “Zee is all set to revive its Zindagi brand on their online platform #Zee5 which will be the new home for a large number of Pakistani shows such as Bin Roye and Shehr-E-Zaat among others. Moreover, the platform will also launch 5 new original series.” He then posted a string of tweets naming the serials which will be showcased. The first one he mentioned is Mann Jogi, starring Saba Qamar, Naumaan Ijaz, Agha Mustafa Hassan, Uzma Hassan, Gul-e-Rana and others. It is written by Saji Gul and directed by Kashif Nisar. Dhoop Ki Deewar, featuring actors Sajal Aly, Ahad Raza Mir, Manzar Sehbai, Samiya Mumtaz, Alyy Khan, Adnan Jaffer, Samina Ahmed and Zeb Rehman will also be shown. It is written by Umera Ahmed and directed by Haseeb Hassan. The remaining two include Abdullahpur Ka Devdas and Aik Jhooti Love Story.

One angry user commented, “Re-tweet if you will #BoycottZee5, like if you will watch Pakistani serials on @ZEE5India.” Another wrote, “Nationalists on the road to #BoycottZee5,” adding a picture of protestors holding the placards, ‘Boycott Zee Group’ and ‘Boycott Subhash Chandra’. This was supported with another user’s reply which read, “So not only Zee News is supporting Chinese by advertising their products, but now its sister channel is bringing funds to Pakistan as well! All enemies of India are supported by Zee! Modi Ji, please conduct a CBI investigation in #AntinationalZee business #BoycottZee5.”

But others begged to differ! A post read, “Normalcy returns at @ZEE5India with Pakistani serials. Thanks to @subhashchandra and @sudhirchaudhary for bringing two countries together again.” Great news for Pakistani actors, writers, directors and producers. Access to a bigger market and a much much bigger audience means more money for them and hopefully, eventually, better content for local viewers as well,” wrote Pakistani journalist Hassan Choudary. Let’s hope this latest development proves to be the best for both, Pakistan and India.
