Four new rapid testing facilities for coronavirus have been set up in the UAE, including two in Dubai (in Al Khawaneej area and Rashid Port), one in Ras Al Khaimah and one in Fujairah, according to the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha). The laser tests at these new facilities, costing AED 50, will be conducted for people planning to enter Abu Dhabi as the UAE capital requires a negative test result for people visiting from other emirates.
The first rapid testing centre was set up in July on the Dubai-Abu Dhabi border, close to the Ghantoot checkpoint. Now four such centres — which use a DPI (diffractive phase interferometry) laser-based technology to produce results within five minutes — are operational in Abu Dhabi, including the ones in Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi Corniche and Al Ain’s Hili area. The Ghantoot and Al Ain facilities are run by a private firm Tamouh Healthcare while the other centres are run by Seha.
The DPI test is only for those aged above 12 years. According to the authorities, if the DPI result requires an applicant to take a PCR test, he/she will have to take it at the same centre for a cost of AED 320 and then stay home till the results are out.

Only those who test negative for COVID-19 are allowed to enter Abu Dhabi and the test results should not be more than 48 hours old. Those who want to get tested at any of the rapid testing centres must book an appointment in advance via the Seha app or by calling 8001717.
The negative test result can be shown to the authorities at the Dubai-Abu Dhabi border via the AlHosn app or as a text message from the screening centre or hospital where the test was conducted
