The UAE government recently issued an updated list of fines for lack of compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols outlined by the Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management. The country has witnessed a rapid increase in coronavirus cases in September and hit a new record of 1,007 cases on Saturday, the highest number of cases ever recorded here in a single day.
The new list of fines was issued after the authorities shut down a cafe in Karama, a restaurant in Satwa and a wedding at a private home in Abu Dhabi for non-compliance with COVID-19 guidelines. The fines range from AED 1,000 up to AED 50,000. Those who do not adhere to social distancing, fail to wear masks in public places or violate curfew timings will incur penalties amounting to AED 3,000. The fine of AED 50,000 will be imposed on any one refusing mandatory hospitalisation or prescribed treatment; for not adhering to compulsory quarantine at home or at a facility; for failure to follow quarantine instructions; and on educational, commercial and leisure establishments that fail to follow safety rules.
On Friday, Dubai Police issued 141 violations and 1,422 warnings in four shopping malls in the emirate, including Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Mall, Mirdif City Centre and Dubai Festival City Mall, following inspections by the police and volunteers.

Meanwhile, the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) has shut down four establishments, suspended the permits of 14 others and issued final warnings to 19 companies for their failure in complying with COVID-19 precautionary measures implemented across all tourism touchpoints. Dubai Tourism has stressed on the importance of fully cooperating with the authorities in order to provide residents and visitors with the highest levels of protection and facilitating a well-rounded experience in the emirate.
