Dil E Momin Episode 29: Faysal Qureshi’s Momin Continues To Destroy His Own Life

“Dil E Momin” is a show that viewers were looking forward to due to Faysal Qureshi’s involvement, along with Madiha Imam.  Unfortunately, despite a potentially strong storyline, the show has turned into yet another story of a false allegation against a man.  Written by Jahanzeb Qamar and directed by Shehrazade Sheikh, “Dil E Momin” also stars Momal Sheikh, Javed Sheikh, Saba Faisal, Haaris Waheed, Shabbir Jan, Annie Zaidi, Tara Mehmood and others in prominent roles.  The downfall of this show is that its central character, Momin, is consistently making bad decisions which lead to his own life tragedy.

Episode 29 centers entirely around Maya (Madiha Imam) stalking Momin (Faysal Qureshi) against his will.  Sounds exciting, right?  It isn’t.  Momin winds up in the hospital after being struck by a car and coincidentally, Maya’s best friend is in the same hospital Momin is transported to – and doesn’t waste a second before calling Maya and informing her of his whereabouts.  Maya continuously pesters Momin in his most helpless state where he cannot even get off the hospital bed, attempting to relieve her guilty conscience and prove her “love” to him.  It’s exhausting not only watching this, but also watching Momin giving in to her requests.  Hasn’t he been through this already?  It’s giving in to her requests that led to her assault allegation against him.  Under no circumstances should he even be seen speaking to her, forget sitting in a car with her.

Of course, Aashi (Momal Sheikh) and her family cannot take Momin’s word for it and Aashi’s mother arrives to speak to her sister about Momin’s innocence – and sees him arriving home with Maya.  At this point, can anyone even blame Aashi or her mother?  Again, why would he sit in a car with the woman who accused him of harassment?  Regardless of how good an actor Faysal Qureshi is, Momin’s crocodile tears do not warm the heart, rather one feels he deserves everything that’s happening to him due to his own foolish decisions.

It’s not really clear where this show is heading, but is there any redemption for it?  Is there any way for the audience to sit up and say “Oh wow, this was a good show and was worthwhile”?  It’s doubtful.  Even Madiha Imam and Faysal Qureshi’s performances are not up to expectations.  If anyone is standing out, it’s Haaris Waheed and the actress who plays his fiancée, Fari.  The rest of the show is very disappointing.
