Dil Lagi: Twitter Roots For Sequel To Mehwish Hayat, Humayun Saeed Starrer

Superstars Mehwish Hayat and Humayun Saeed are undeniably a power duo in the showbiz industry. Their on-screen chemistry remains unmatched and they complement each other like no other reel couple Pakistani cinema has witnessed before. The two have starred in several ventures together ranging from Punjab Nahi Jaungi to Jawaani Phir Nahi Ani and Baaji among others. But the one project that truly highlighted their inspirational on-screen pairing has to be the 2016 romantic TV series, Dil Lagi. Produced by Saeed and Shahzad Nasib under their production banner Six Sigma Plus, the show is directed by Nadeem Baig and written by Faiza Iftikhar. Starring Hayat as Saeed’s leading lady, the drama was appreciated by fans and critics alike.

Hayat recently took to her social media platforms including Instagram and Twitter, and hinted at the possibility of a sequel. “Dillagi is on repeat! Who all are watching? Should there be a sequel? Raise your hand if you agree,” she penned alongside a heart emoji. “Twinning in black,” read the caption of the picture which featured her and Saeed together. Twitterati could not contain their excitement and hooted for a reboot to the acclaimed Dil Lagi. Replying to Hayat, a fan wrote, “I’m raising both of my hands. In the times of sad or “reality” based endings, we really need some passionate kind of story on our screens that creates magic instead of logic.”

“This was really great drama and after that I became your fan,” wrote one user. Another added, “I’m a big fan of Humayun Saeed and I have already seen Meray Paas Tum Ho.” Calling Dil Lagi an iconic TV drama, a user posted, “Dillagi does that for us!!! ICONIC!!!” And some cannot stop watching the first season again and again! “You both rock in this serial. Waiting for Season 2. I have watched Dillagi many times and every time it feels like it’s the first time, I am watching it. Love you both.”

Some users however were eager to remember Dil Lagi for how it is and shunned the idea of a sequel. Referring to it as a ‘risk’, a user posted on the micro-blogging site, “We’d definitely love to watch a sequel. But it’s history, all the sequels lose the essence of original piece, we expect a lot already and the chances of flop are higher. A big risk it’d be!” Another one of Hayat’s fans mentioned they would like to see her share screen space with Fahad Mustafa over Saeed. Well, that’s a first! The post read, “Mehwish if you are doing a serial, then please do it with Fahad, not Humayun. You look better with Fahad as compared to him.” We beg to differ! Pouring in a piece of advice, a Twitter user wrote, “There must be sequels to Dil Lagi. But let the story come alive so that people can talk about the third.” It seems like more people are in favour of a sequel! A user wrote, “Yes definitely there should be a sequel. I am watching it for the second time. It is a great drama serial!”
