Dil Ruba continues down its path of payback towards Sanam’s misdeeds. Hania Amir continues to give a strong performance as Sanam, a flirtatious, carefree, egotistical girl who undergoes a transformation after she loses her husband and her priorities change. While Sanam is now a new mother, her family has made it their mission to marry her off once again so she can be “happy.”

In episode 13, While Phupo tries her best to request Sabeeh (Mohib Mirza) to marry Sanam, he is still in trauma from Sanam’s rejection and Razi’s last words. He remains adamant and Sanam marries Khurram (Syed Jibran). Initially, Khurram seems like a stand-up man, but as the episode progresses, his façade falls apart. He requests Sanam to leave Ayaan, her son, with her family while they go on a honeymoon, which leaves Sanam feeling uncomfortable.
Here Phupo also tries to come to the rescue and take Ayaan home with her, but Iram and Ghazala (Marina Khan) step in and say Khurram will take Ayaan home with them soon. However, things only get worse from here as Sanam’s father in law comes to visit (played by Shehryar Zaidi) and it’s revealed that Khurram has married Sanam as per his father’s wishes. He has also been divorced twice and currently has a girlfriend on the side. Sanam is angry and leaves home, but her father-in-law brings her back by signing the house and business over to Sanam.
Iram and Ghazala are two of the most irritating female characters seen in a drama in a long time. These two ladies literally bullied Sanam into remarrying – and not only remarrying but doing so immediately after having a child. Now that she’s married, the two are seen talking about how difficult it must be for Sanam to be away from her baby and how the baby must be affected.
They did not think about this when Sanam was objecting nor did they think logically about her child and his needs, but Iram has the nerve to blame Sanam’s kismat when Sanam confronts her with Khurram’s truth. Sanam’s actions are now understandable. She may have been a flirt, but she was simply searching for something “better” for herself.
The introduction of Syed Jibran’s Khurram has brought some much-needed excitement to the show in the form of a worthy antagonist. Up until now, the men of “Dil Ruba” have been obsessive lovers that could not fathom that a girl was not interested or had a past. With Khurram, Sanam is now on the receiving end of her own past behavior with a husband who finds her boring and is “ayaash.”
While some may say “this is Sanam’s karma,” again, it boils down to….were Sanam’s actions really so terrible that this would be her karma? Her husband has already died and left her alone with a baby. Sabeeh has rejected her. She’s married to a playboy who most likely will not accept her son. And all this for a few instances of flirting? If the situation had been flipped and Sanam were a male protagonist, this character would’ve been perceived differently.

Sanam is also seen, in this episode, attempting to contact Junaid (Shehroze Sabzwari) to apologize to him for her poor behavior, again showing how Sanam has grown as a person. The misery being heaped upon Sanam is getting difficult to watch, but it will be interesting to see how she handles Khurram now that she’s aware of his behavior. Will the old Sanam come out to set him straight? Will Khurram (and his girlfriend) begin plotting against Sanam? However it progresses, “Dil Ruba” has taken an interesting turn story-wise.
