Dil Ruba Episode 18: Yet Another Suitor For Sanam Is Introduced

“Dil Ruba” is a show that started off promising, but as time goes on, it has long since lost the plot.  Following a story that seems to shame and “punish” a woman for her past mistakes and choices made in naivety, Hania Amir takes emotional beatings one after another, all in the name of retribution and having to pay for her mistakes.  What mistakes though?  Flirtations?  If that wasn’t bad enough, Sanam is now being written into a corner with suddenly going from a loving mother to a neglectful one.  In the latest episode though, we now see her turning towards adultery out of loneliness after being abandoned not only by her husband, but also by her family.

In episode 18, Iram and Ghazala (Marina Khan) continue to play their irritating games.  Now that this terrible twosome are busy planning Arsalan’s wedding, they extend an invitation to Sanam (Hania Amir) with their usual ulterior motives, but she declines, saying they’ve disowned her themselves.  And as if the two couldn’t sink any lower, they kick up a fuss when they realize Arsalan’s fiancée had been previously engaged.  This will be a different sort of issue when it’s discovered that Sehrish is married into Sanam’s family.  On the other end, Khurram (Syed Jibran) and Natasha worry about money now that they’re left with nothing.  Of course, with Natasha’s conniving ways, it’s only a matter of time before she hatches a plan.

Sanam’s new friend encourages her to surround herself with “happy, positive company” – and this means to stop mourning the death of her father-in-law and to move on in life, forgetting her unreliable husband.  The advice this woman gives Sanam is downright ridiculous considering Sanam hasn’t made any choices to leave Khurram at this point and Sanam is a mother, not a carefree young girl without responsibilities.  Also, it must be said that the actress playing Sanam’s friend is overacting to the point of irritation and is ruining each scene she features in.  The way she’s behaving and with the introduction of Farhad, Sanam’s new “love interest,” something here feels suspicious.

Is Farhad actually interested in Sanam or is this yet another tragedy headed Sanam’s way?  Is Farhad working under the orders of Khurram’s new wife?  Or is it possible that he’s been hired by Junaid’s mother, a woman who has also sworn revenge on Sanam?  Of course, after reading my reviews each week, it’s clear how I feel about this topic and quite honestly, I am growing tired of all the nonsense being depicted in this show.  With a slew of new dramas beginning, it’s highly possible that “Dil Ruba” will no longer feature in the review lineup – unless things improve in the near future.
