Dobara Episode 26: Fareeda Shabbir’s Performance As Adeela Hits The Bullseye

“Dobara” has been winning over audiences with its story about second chances and finding love at an older age.  “Dobara” has been doing a great job of keeping audiences hooked.  Even when breaking up its lead couple due to misunderstandings, it has also resolved the issue rather quickly, not leaving viewers to suffer for too long.  Starring Bilal Abbas Khan and Hadiqa Kiani in lead roles, Shabbir Jan, Sakina Samo, Usama Khan, Nabeel Zuberi, Fareeda Shabbir, Sabeena Syed, Maheen Siddiqui and others in supporting roles.  Written by Sarwat Nazir, the show has been directed by Danish Nawaz.

Episode 26 of “Dobara” revolves around Mahir’s (Bilal Abbas Khan) return to the fold.  Now that Mahir’s name has been cleared, Affan (Usama Khan) and Seher’s (Sabeena Syed) place in the household has become shaky.  Mahir, on his part, is doing everything outwardly to be the perfect head of household while still managing to put everyone in their place, most specifically Phupo (Sakina Samo).  Mahir’s intentions still aren’t clear and while it’s hilarious to see him putting Phupo in her place, it also leaves room to wonder if Mahir has truly changed or if he’s still just putting on a show for his own selfish needs.  Still, it’s great to see Mahir and Mehru (Hadiqa Kiani) working together as a team to solve all of their current problems.

Meanwhile Affan and Seher decide to leave and move to America for the sake of their family relationships, believing some distance will be good to repair the damage.  This is bad news for Zamin (Nabeel Zuberi), who requested a loan from Affan and is horrified to find Mahir back in control at the office.  It’s great to see Zamin in a rough spot, his planning all going against him once again, but it’s not great to see how Minal (Maheen Siddiqui) has been dragged into all of this.  Zamin has done a great job turning a daughter against her mother and her mother’s husband, a daughter who was once supportive.

The highlight of this episode is interestingly Fareeda Shabbir’s performance as Adeela.  Mahir’s stepmother has always harbored dislike for Mahir, riddled with jealousy and insecurity over Mahir and his mother’s place in her husband’s life.  While Jahangir (Shabbir Jan) is physically absent in this episode, Adeela and their daughters head to Mahir and Mehru’s home in the hopes of convincing Mehru to finance the upcoming family wedding.  Despite the ladies intentions, it’s admirable how sweetly Mehru treats Mahir’s family and the respect she gives them.  Unfortunately, Minal barges in and is furious seeing Mehru handing Adeela a check for a large amount – particularly when Zamin’s loan request has been rejected.  Adeela has always been a selfish character, money hungry, but we have seen a more “human” side to Adeela lately, particularly when she overheard Mahir discussing his family’s greed towards meeting Mehru.  Adeela appeared to have been affected by this allegation – and yet still came to Mehru’s house with financial intentions.  However, after this insult by Minal, it appears Adeela’s self-respect has finally come into play.  She quietly puts the check down and leaves, visibly shaken by the treatment she has just received at Minal’s hands.  Fareeda Shabbir’s performance is praise-worthy and makes an impact.

This is a great, action-packed episode.  Along with Fareeda Shabbir, Usama Khan’s performance also stands out.  The show appears to be headed down the path towards wrapping up with Affan’s dislike for Mahir now out of the way.  The story will now focus on Zamin and Minal and with the previews for next week insinuating that Zamin is cheating on Minal, this will be an easier wrap-up than expected.  What’s important though is how sincere Mahir is in his feelings for Mehru and if these two characters will truly find happiness with one another.
