Dubai Design Week All Set To Return Bigger And Better

All set to begin on November 8th, 2021 the largest creative festival promises to be bigger and better this time around with a line-up of events and activities that merges art and design in an impeccable manner. For the uninformed, the annual Dubai design District, event curates inventive showcases representing architecture, products, furniture, and interior design merging both the local and international artists.
The year 2021 theme is rethinking the regular and it is expected to have a diverse program of over 200 free-to-attend events and activities including exhibitions, installations, and pop-ups. Here are some of the features that will be part of the Dubai Design District.
 
Abwab Is Designed to Promote the Region’s Talent and Stimulate Cultural Exchange.
The literal for Abwab is Doors in Arabic. With its adaptive and experimental focal installation, Abwab once again takes center stage. In an effort to promote the region’s talent and revive cultural exchange, Abwab commissions work from across the region. This is why The 2021 Abwab commission has been awarded to Dubai-based architect Ahmed El-Sharabassy for his proposal titled ‘Nature in Motion’, Responding to this year’s theme of regenerative architecture and restorative design, the pavilion structure references the Dubai desert’s constant motion, emulating the city’s continuous development and evolution.
The Zenith Downtown Design Will Host Brands From Over 20 Countries:
The Downtown Design, which is the pinnacle point of the Dubai Design District is all set to host around 130 international and regional brands from 20 countries. And yes, it is all happening live, in-person edition at a time of renewed optimism, business activity, and creative inspiration across the region. Not only the top-tier architects but also the upcoming creative talents will showcase their new creative directions focusing on the region.
The fair will also feature the largest exhibition of limited-edition and collectible design to date, with a particular focus on the Middle East’s creative scene.
The MENA Grad Show Is A Haven For Regions’ Budding Talents:
Here is a brilliant opportunity for the budding design geniuses. D3 is not just is a haven with leading architects and upcoming talents, under MENA grad show, during one-year programs, university graduates from across the world can work on social impact programs. The MENA Grad Show will spotlight 50 of the most exciting projects coming out of the over 470 universities across 70 countries. The projects from the Middle East and North Africa will focus on social impact innovation and on solutions to improve and transform lives.
The Market Place Will Take Place On November 12 and 13:
Hallelujah well, get your wallets and cards ready y’all!! The weekend-long marketplace will surely give a retail therapy like no other. Taking place on 12 and 13th of November, The Marketplace brings together the very best of the city’s creatives, artisans, and small businesses in a curated experience where visitors can discover high-quality, handcrafted, unique goods as well as sustainable and responsibly sourced products and delicious food offerings.
An exhibition titled ‘Pulp Fusion’, curated by Beirut-based architecture and research firm Bits to Atoms and centered around the human impact on the planet.
Making Space is a Week-Long Programme of 80+ Activities Under The Theme ’Paper, Plastic + Play’
Pull up your sleeves, release your inhibitions and bring your creative sides out. Because d3 is giving you an opportunity to take part in 80+activities under the theme “Paper, plastic+ play”. each activity has been curated with people and the planet in mind, and an emphasis on environmentally friendly materials. Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with ancient as well as innovative ways of making.
 
You, Will, Get To Witness Striking Outdoor Installations
You’ll be able to see some striking installations throughout Dubai Design District (d3). A total of 15 installations by renowned designers such as Kristina Zanic Design Studio for Trend Middle East, Emirati creatives Iman Almidfa and Hessa Ali Alechla, and Ana Carreras will be found around the trendy design hub.
UAE Designers Exhibitions Is Going To Showcase Works From 25 Exhibiting Designers:
A great platform is provided for all the newbie designers and young practitioners whereby they can launch their works, touch shoulders with the big wigs of the industry, and possibly create social networking, and collaborations. This year The UAE Designer Exhibition 2.0 will unveil works by 25 emerging and undiscovered creative talents, based in the UAE and producing locally.
2040: d3 Architecture Exhibition Showcases Future Dubai
