New Year celebrations in the UAE always hit different. From the vibe to the breathtaking views and bevy of entertainment options to choose from, its always a lit start to the year if you are in the country. This time around, the talk of the town was the legendary band KISS, which broke two Guinness World Records while mesmerizing spectators at the Atlantis, The Palm on Thursday evening. Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, along with their other band members, bid farewell to 2020 by playing and streaming to a global audience of two million with more than 500,000 live streams.
Knocking it out of the park with the hit number Rock N Roll All Nite, along with a massive firework displays and laser shows, the troupe broke two world records, the first of them being the highest flame projection in a music concert. The minimum for this record title is 35 meters. The second was the most flame projections launched simultaneously in a music concert and the minimum for this record title is a total of 66 heads.

The official Twitter account of the Atlantis, The Palm shared, “Here’s to a brighter and more extraordinary 2021. Happy New Year.” Earlier, Emaar released a series of Covid-19 guidelines for those who were celebrating New Year’s Eve outside their homes. All guests were expected to register on the free-of-cost U By Emaar application. Following the registration process, the guests were given a QR code that would be required to access Downtown Dubai. In an attempt for a socially-distant event, access to Downtown Dubai was through five gates and all guests were asked for the QR code to access the viewing areas. These included the Burj Khalifa fireworks and laser shows in and around Downtown Dubai.
