Dubai Opera to Reopen with Eid Concert

Dubai Opera will be finally reopening its doors over Eid Al Adha after four months of closure following the outbreak of coronavirus.

The curtain will rise at 10 pm on Saturday, 1st August, with an Eid charity concert, Celebrate Giving, organised by MBC Al-Hope Group to support children impacted by COVID-19. All proceeds from the concert will go towards UNICEF’s #Reimagine Campaign.

The show will feature performances by Emirati singer Hussain Al Jassmi and Lebanese singer Yara. It will also include guest performances by some young and emerging singers who are part of MBC’s The Voice: Kids.

The Eid concert will be followed by a hologram concert of late Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum, which previously took place at Dubai Opera in December 2019. The new shows will be held on Thursday, 6 August at 9:30 pm; on Friday, 7 August at 6:30 pm and again at 10:30 pm; and on Saturday, 8 August at 9 pm.

Ticket prices for the Eid concert begin from AED 495 and for the hologram concert from AED 295. All tickets can be purchased from the Dubai Opera website.

According to the website, the Downtown venue will run at limited capacity and guests will be seated at a distance from one another in the auditorium, in order to comply with social distancing rules in the emirate. A family of four can be seated together. Advance purchase of tickets online is recommended. Wearing of face masks at all times is mandatory while gloves are optional.

The upcoming shows are part of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), the annual shopping extravaganza currently taking place in the emirate. Many other leisure destinations have also opened up in the city, but with several modifications and precautionary measures in place to ensure the safety of visitors.
