Dubai – a city that is home to more than 200 nationalities from around the world – has been keeping its residents in-check and on their toes during the need of the hour. While the emirate eased Covid-19 lockdown restrictions and opened several venues for its vaccinated population earlier this year, authorities have been patrolling day in and day out to ensure individuals are complying to the new rules. However, much to their disappointment, two renowned eateries had to be shut down in Dubai for violating coronavirus safety measures.

A post uploaded on Dubai Media Office’s Twitter account read, “Dubai Tourism closes two restaurants from May 23 to May 29, 2021 for not adhering to the precautionary measures to limit the spread of Covid-19 and allowing guests to congregate. During the same period, 23 venues were found to be non-compliant to the measures.”
Moreover, the Dubai Economy on Sunday said it had issued 56 fines for violations at malls and markets. Most of them were due to lack of face masks and overcrowding. Social distancing violations were primarily noticed at payment counters, as shoppers flocked to malls to avail whopping discounts.

Previously, the Dubai Police issued fines worth Dhs50,000 to a number of individuals who hosted a private party on a yacht, while also disobeying coronavirus SOPs, including no social distancing and no masks in sight. Soon after, it sealed a desert camp after it arranged a private event, in which Covid-19 safety measures were not being followed either. Dubai Media Office uploaded a video, in which guests at the camp were seen without masks and in close proximity to each other, once again breaching precautionary guidelines.
