Dubai To Welcome Tourists From 7th July

Dubai is ready to welcome foreign tourists from Tuesday, 7th July. The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) recently organised an online forum of key stakeholders and partners to discuss the future of the emirate’s tourism industry in a post-Covid world; the preventive measures taken by the city to ensure the safety of visitors and the economic stimulus package being provided for business sustainability.

Director-General Dubai Tourism, Helal Saeed Almarri said, “Now, as we get nearer to reopening the city to tourists, we are encouraged by the success of the strong procedures deployed across sectors that have reinforced Dubai’s commitment to the health and safety of visitors when they start arriving from 7 July, a development that will be a turning point in the tourism sector’s road to recovery.”

The forum discussed in detail the precautionary measures taken to curb the spread of coronavirus, which have made the UAE one of the safest countries in the world during the pandemic. The country also ranked at number three in an international survey conducted to assess people’s satisfaction with the governments’ response to the outbreak of the virus.

“The effective management of COVID-19, our three-phase programme to revive the sector and the citywide reopening of tourism facilities including hotels and airports, as well as the resumption of flights by our leading carriers are testament to the significant efforts made to welcome tourists back to Dubai,” Almarri added.

The virtual forum also discussed campaigns benefitting the hospitality and retail sectors during the summer season, which will help attract more international visitors. The annual retail sale, Dubai Summer Surprises, will be rolled out on 9th July, with malls now back to 100% operational capacity and easing of previous restrictions on movement and travel. More UAE residents are also expected to spend their summer in Dubai which is expected to result in higher footfall at malls and other entertainment destinations.
