Dulhan Episode 17: Sami Khan’s Mekaal Plots His Escape From Family Pressure

“Dulhan” tells the story of a woman caught between two men as one is her husband and the other is in pursuit of her, neither with good intentions. Sami Khan, Sumbal Iqbal, Faizan Khawaja and Mashal Khan in lead roles, the story has been written by Adeel Razzaq and directed by Adeel Siddiqui. At present, Amal has disrupted the peace in Mekaal’s household after announcing herself as Mekaal’s wife in the middle of Mekaal’s marriage to Annie. The fall-out of this results in Mekaal’s mother visiting Amal at home.

Mekaal’s mother (Shaheen Khan) and Amal’s stepmother (Nida Mumtaz) come face to face and Mekaal’s mother tries to paint Amal out to be a liar. However, she’s shocked when Amal’s stepmother backs up Amal’s claims and begins a war of words with her. While Amal’s stepmother is a shrewd woman, it’s somewhat of a relief that Amal has finally blurted out the truth. While things are only going to become more complicated now with her involvement, at least Amal will no longer have to tip toe around the subject. Amal’s stepmother reacts badly to the news that Mekaal is Amal’s husband and makes it clear that if the police land up at their house because of her actions, she will not protect her. Still, the environment at home may have become more tense for Amal, but again, the sneaking around has come to an end and now Amal can be honest about the job hunt as her stepmother pushes her to find a new job.

It’s irritating to see how Annie (Mashal Khan) continues to mourn her marriage considering she made the choice to marry Mekaal (Sami Khan) herself. Her behavior is irritating, only because if her plan was to take charge, she should be taking charge rather than letting her parents get involved in every small detail. Mekaal and Annie have both handed the reigns of their relationship over to their parents and are not working on their marriage at all – which makes sense for Mekaal considering his situation, but why is Annie behaving like this? It has become repetitive, because we’ve been watching the family conferences in easily the last 3-4 episodes. Shahmeer (Faizan Khawaja) barely has anything to do with the current plot and Shahmeer is a waste of his talent at this point. Will Shahmeer get a moment to shine n upcoming episodes?

Dulhan Episode 16: Mashal Khan’s Annie Is Ready To Dig For The Truth On Her New Husband

Quite honestly, episode 17 is simply exhausting to watch, because the show has fallen into a repetitive place. However, it has at least become clear now what Mekaal’s long-term plan is. While he married Annie and is half-heartedly pacifying her without any apparent interest in her, he’s also trying to protect Amal from the police. Why? Well, we finally have an answer. Mekaal wants to win Annie and her family’s trust and intends on feeding them with an angle of independence and creating something on his own, asking his father-in-law to sell his father’s shares so he can venture out on his own. Once this happens, Mekaal will no longer be bound to Annie or her family and can make his own life choices without fear of being financially depleted. Up until now, his entire future has been resting on his relationship with Annie. But considering both Annie and her parents are suspicious of Mekaal, will he be successful in convincing them of this deal?
