Dunk Episode 11: Haider Grapples With Guilt As Safeer Marries Amal

“Dunk” has officially moved into the love triangle zone after initially focusing on the very serious issue of false sexual harassment allegations. However, this seems to be a hitch in the road as the story moves towards an interesting path. The cast of “Dunk” includes Noman Ejaz, Bilal Abbas Khan, Sana Javed, Azekah Daniel, Fahad Sheikh, Shahood Alvi, Saife Hassan and many others. The show has been produced by Fahad Mustafa’s Big Bang Entertainment, directed by Badar Mehmood and written by Mohsin Talat. After Haider refused to marry Amal in the last episode, Safeer and Amal are now set to “redeem” the family honor by getting married.

In episode 11, Amal (Sana Javed) is now being hailed as a hero in the family for not only agreeing to marry Safeer, but also, very “selflessly,” marrying Safeer under the condition that Haider (Bilal Abbas Khan) be allowed to return home. While Amal is being applauded by the entire family, Safeer (Fahad Sheikh) meets Haider, hoping to convince him to return home and marry Amal himself, feeling guilty for coming between the two once-lovebirds. However, Haider makes it clear that Safeer should only marry Amal if his happiness lies in the decision, not for the happiness of others. Safeer is that sacrificial son, one who will bow his head and do anything for his family’s happiness. And so, he is going to sacrifice himself, despite the relationship feeling forced and unnatural. On the other end, Haider has always been a more brash, independent-minded being who made his own decisions – including marrying Amal. This is why his rejection of Amal is so surprising to the family, but it’s honestly Haider’s own fault. While it’s great that he confronted Amal with the truth, she is now calculating enough to find her way into his home regardless. Haider should have maintained Amal’s respect within four walls, but his and her families should definitely have been privy to the information that Amal falsely accused Professor Hamayun of harassment – especially since his brother will now be marred to her. As Haider resigns himself to disdain from his family, he waits in his room as Amal and Safeer’s marriage is conducted only to come face to face with Amal upon their return home.

Amal is an interesting character, honestly, in the sense that she is very difficult to figure out. Is she as committed to Haider and sacrificing as she appears to be, mouthing dialogues about punishing herself by spending the rest of her life under the same roof as Haider? Or is there something more sinister brewing underneath the surface? As a viewer, it would be more interesting to see the latter if it’s properly explored. Coming to Haider, Bilal Abbas Khan is doing a fabulous job in this role, showing how conflicted Haider is with his decision – while he doesn’t regret it, he also knows he cannot be completely honest, which is causing him to lose his family. It will be interesting to see in which direction this story takes a turn – will Haider wind up with Azekah Daniel’s character? What role does she play in the grand scheme of things? Or will he, as a means of redemption, wind up supporting Saira (Yasra Rizvi) and her daughter? Next week, we will see Haider and Saira come face to face once again as Haider attempts to begin to make amends. Overall, while this episode isn’t a particularly great one, the events move the story in an interesting direction.
